Role Title :Senior Quality Engineer I

Position Summary:

The Senior Quality Engineer I (SDET Web) is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of Marriotts global digital web platforms through the design and implementation of scalable, maintainable automated testing solutions.

This role partners closely with product, design, and engineering teams to validate complex frontend browser experiences and API integrations across a largescale, multilocale web ecosystem. The engineer plays a key role in advancing quality engineering practices by building robust UI and API automation, integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines, and driving a shift left quality mindset across teams.

This is a handson senior individual contributor role requiring strong technical depth, collaboration skills, and a passion for up-to-date test automation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for web UI and API testing using modern tools and best practices.




- Develop and maintain automated browser tests for largescale web and mobile web applications, including crossbrowser and crossdevice coverage.
- Create, execute, and maintain automated REST and GraphQL API test suites, including functional, contract, and schema validation.
- Foster an AI-first culture within the team and leverage GenAI-based tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) to execute technical tasks, including component development, QA automation, and workflow optimization.
- Integrate UI and API test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and highquality releases.
- Partner with developers, product owners, and QE leads to ensure testability, clear acceptance criteria, and comprehensive quality coverage.
- Perform root cause analysis on defects and collaborate with engineering teams to validate fixes.
- Implement regression, visual validation, and accessibility testing to reduce manual testing effort and improve coverage.
- Drive shiftleft quality engineering practices and provide technical guidance and mentoring to other QE and SDET team members.
- Improve automation reporting, test data management, and environment readiness.
- Own automation quality for one or more major web domains or platforms.
- Contribute to Quality Engineering Center of Excellence (COE) standards, reusable frameworks, and shared testing accelerators.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in software quality engineering with a strong focus on web and API automation.
- Handson experience with modern test automation frameworks and tools, including:
- Selenium Web Driver with Java and TestNG or JUnit
- Playwright with Java Script or Type Script




- Browser Stack or similar cloudbased crossbrowser testing platforms
- REST API testing tools such as Postman, REST Assured, ReadyAPI or equivalent
- GraphQL API testing, including queries, mutations, and schema validation
- Strong programming skills in Java, Java Script/Type Script, or Python

- Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, DOM, browser behavior, and developer tools.
- Exposure to agentic GenAI development tools like Claude, ChatGPT, or other tools.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, Harness, or equivalent.
- Proven ability to design and execute complex testing strategies beyond basic functional testing.
- Strong debugging, problemsolving, and analytical skills.
- Experience working in fastpaced Agile/Scrum environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Familiarity with API mocking and service virtualization tools (e.g., Wire Mock, MSW).
- Experience with containerized or distributed test execution environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience testing microservices and distributed systems.
- Experience with AI assisted development or testing tools (e.g., Git Hub Copilot, Cursor) to improve automation development productivity.
- Experience testing AI enabled web or API based applications is a plus.
- Knowledge of Marriott digital platforms or prior experience in hospitality, travel, or e commerce domains is a plus.
