Job Description Chartered Accountant (Income Tax, Audit & Taxation)

Role Overview
We are looking for a qualified Chartered Accountant to manage and oversee income tax, tax audit, statutory/internal audit and taxation compliances for the organisation and its group entities. The role will involve ensuring timely statutory compliance, handling tax assessments/notices, coordinating with consultants and auditors, and providing taxation support to management.
Key Responsibilities
Income Tax & Direct Taxation
- Preparation and review of income-tax computations and Income Tax Returns.
- Handling income-tax assessments, notices, submissions and correspondence with the Income Tax Department.
- Managing advance tax, self-assessment tax and other direct-tax compliances.
- Review and reconciliation of TDS/TCS deductions, payments and returns.
- Advising management on tax implications of business transactions and tax planning opportunities.
- Monitoring changes in Income Tax laws, rules and regulations.
Tax Audit
- Planning and coordinating tax-audit activities under applicable provisions of the Income Tax Act.
- Preparation/review of Form 3CD and related tax-audit documentation.
- Verification of books of accounts, expenses, deductions, disallowances and tax provisions.
- Ensuring proper reconciliation between financial statements, books and tax records.
- Coordinating with external tax auditors and consultants.
Audit & Accounting
- Coordinating statutory, internal and other financial audits.
- Reviewing financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Checking accounting records, expenses, provisions, assets and liabilities.
- Identifying control gaps and following up on audit observations.
- Supporting month-end/year-end closing and financial reporting.
GST & Indirect Taxation
- Review and monitoring of GST compliances and returns.
- GST reconciliation and verification of input tax credit.
- Handling GST notices, assessments and departmental correspondence.
- Coordinating with consultants for GST-related matters.
- Monitoring changes in GST laws and ensuring timely implementation.
EPFO / Statutory Compliance
- Monitoring statutory dues and compliance matters relating to EPFO and other applicable authorities.
- Coordinating with consultants and internal teams for statutory notices and proceedings.
- Supporting resolution/settlement of outstanding statutory compliance matters.
Management & Coordination
- Preparing tax and compliance MIS for senior management.
- Coordinating with internal departments, auditors, consultants and government authorities.
- Maintaining statutory records and ensuring compliance deadlines are met.
- Providing timely advice to management on taxation and audit-related matters.
- Supervising and guiding junior team members, where applicable.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA).
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in Income Tax, Tax Audit, GST and Audit.
- Strong knowledge of the Income Tax Act, GST laws and applicable statutory compliances.
- Experience in handling tax notices, assessments and audits will be preferred.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Tally/ERP and accounting systems.
- Solid analytical, communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple assignments and statutory deadlines.
