JOB DESCRIPTION MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical / Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering

1. Job Purpose

To ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation of electrical systems, CNC, VMC, HMC and other manufacturing machinery by carrying out preventive, breakdown and corrective maintenance activities, minimizing machine downtime and ensuring safe and efficient plant operations.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Electrical Maintenance

- Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults related to lights, power supply, electrical panels, MCBs, contactors, relays, sensors and wiring.
- Attend to power fluctuations, electrical breakdowns and short-circuit-related issues.
- Carry out electrical wiring, cable laying, termination and basic panel maintenance.
- Identify electrical faults using appropriate testing instruments.
- Ensure proper functioning of lighting, power distribution and shop-floor electrical systems.
- Coordinate with external electricians/contractors whenever specialized electrical work is required.

B. CNC / VMC / HMC Machine Maintenance

- Attend breakdowns and carry out troubleshooting of CNC, VMC and HMC machines.
- Identify and rectify electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic issues affecting machine performance.
- Troubleshoot machine alarms, sensors, limit switches, motors, drives, control panels and related components.
- Support maintenance of machine tools, lubrication systems, coolant systems, hydraulic systems and pneumatic systems.
- Coordinate with machine OEM/service engineers for major breakdowns and technical issues.
- Maintain breakdown records and identify recurring machine problems.

C. Preventive Maintenance

- Execute the Preventive Maintenance (PM)



schedule for all machines and equipment.
- Conduct regular inspection of CNC, VMC, HMC and other production machinery.
- Check electrical connections, motors, bearings, lubrication, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Maintain PM checklists and ensure 100% compliance with the preventive maintenance schedule.
- Identify potential failures in advance and take corrective action to prevent production stoppages.

D. Breakdown Maintenance

- Respond immediately to machine breakdowns and restore equipment to normal operation with minimum downtime.
- Analyze root causes of repeated breakdowns and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Maintain breakdown history, downtime records and spare-part requirements.
- Prioritize breakdowns based on production criticality.

E. Safety & Compliance

- Follow all electrical and machine maintenance safety procedures.
- Ensure proper isolation/LOTO procedures before carrying out maintenance work.
- Ensure that all electrical panels, wiring and machines are maintained in safe operating condition.
- Report unsafe conditions and recommend corrective measures.
- Follow company EHS, quality and maintenance procedures.

F. Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain machine maintenance history, PM records, breakdown reports and spare-part consumption records.
- Prepare daily/weekly maintenance reports.
- Monitor MTBF, MTTR and machine downtime.
- Maintain records of recurring machine breakdowns and corrective actions.




- Support maintenance-related audits and documentation requirements.

3. Required Technical Skills

- Good knowledge of industrial electrical maintenance and wiring.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting power fluctuations and electrical breakdowns.
- Working knowledge of CNC, VMC and HMC machines.
- Basic knowledge of PLC, sensors, drives, motors and control panels.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read electrical and machine-related drawings.
- Knowledge of preventive and breakdown maintenance practices.
- Ability to use electrical testing and measuring instruments.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- 100% compliance with Preventive Maintenance schedule.
- Reduction in machine breakdowns and unplanned downtime.
- Improvement in machine availability and reliability.
- Reduction in MTTR (Mean Time to Repair).

5. Preferred Experience

Candidates with hands-on experience in manufacturing industries, particularly in machine maintenance involving CNC, VMC, HMC, electrical systems, industrial wiring, power distribution and machine troubleshooting, will be preferred.
