We are seeking an experienced HVAC Product Selection Subject Matter Expert (SME) for an on-demand consulting engagement to support the modernization of a Product Data Management (PDM) platform for a leading HVAC manufacturer. This is not an IT development role. The consultant will provide deep HVAC domain expertise to guide software development by defining product structures, configurations, engineering specifications, product selection rules, installation practices, and validation criteria. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in HVAC applications engineering, product engineering, product management, technical support, equipment selection, or field installation, with hands-on experience using HVAC product selection software and manufacturer engineering tools. This is a remote, project-based consulting engagement requiring approximately 15 - 30 hours per month, with candidates located in India or the United States.

- Act as the primary HVAC Product Field Installation Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing domain expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and software development teams to translate HVAC engineering knowledge into functional requirements and business rules.
- Provide guidance on HVAC equipment configurations, product specifications, compatibility rules, installation practices, and product selection methodologies.
- Review and validate manufacturer product catalogs, engineering drawings, technical specifications, installation manuals, submittals, and other technical documentation.




- Define and validate HVAC product attributes, product relationships, engineering rules, and selection logic required for the Product Data Management (PDM) platform.
- Provide expertise in HVAC product selection software, equipment selection workflows, product configuration tools, and manufacturer engineering applications.
- Validate product data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and alignment with manufacturer standards before deployment.
- Identify and resolve product data gaps, configuration issues, engineering inconsistencies, and edge cases.
- Support the modernization of legacy HVAC product selection systems by ensuring functional parity and business accuracy.
- Participate in requirements workshops, design reviews, sprint discussions, UAT, and product validation sessions.
- Provide guidance on equipment sizing, product selection, accessories, compatibility, and application-specific scenarios.
- Document HVAC business rules, engineering standards, product selection logic, and configuration guidelines to support long-term platform maintenance and knowledge transfer.
- Serve as the bridge between HVAC domain experts and software engineering teams, ensuring business requirements are accurately translated into scalable software solutions.
