What does a successful Automation Engineer at Fiserv do:
As a Automation Engineer, you will drive automation, operational efficiency and service modernization across critical infrastructure platforms supporting enterprise operations. You will work closely with BFMOps, Transmission Build Services, Enterprise Scheduling, DAVCoE, HSM, IBM i, Unisys, NonStop and engineering teams to understand operational workflows, identify automation opportunities and develop innovative solutions that reduce manual effort, improve reliability and enhance service delivery. You will act as both an automation engineer and transformation consultant, helping operational teams adopt an automation-first mindset.
What you will do:
- Analyze operational workflows, support processes, and recurrent activities across BFMOps, Transmission Build Services, Scheduling, DAVCoE, HSM, IBM i, Unisys, NonStop and related infrastructure teams to identify automation opportunities.
- Design, develop and implement automation solutions using Python, PowerShell, Shell Scripting, APIs and enterprise automation platforms.
- Build self-service capabilities for common operational requests, health checks, reporting, transmission onboarding, access validation and audit activities.
- Develop workflow automation for Connect:Direct, Sterling File Gateway (SFG), Control-M, HSM, IBM i.
- Automate operational reporting, KPI dashboards, backlog tracking, SLA monitoring, compliance reporting, and executive metrics using Splunk, Tableau, Power BI or similar platforms.
- Partner with SMEs and platform teams to eliminate repetitive manual tasks, improve operational efficiency and reduce support overhead.
- Design intelligent monitoring, alert correlation,
auto-remediation and self-healing solutions to improve platform availability and service resilience.
- Analyse recurring incidents and operational risks to develop preventative automation solutions.
- Build integrations between enterprise systems using APIs, orchestration tools, workflow engines and scripting frameworks.
- Create reusable automation frameworks, standards, playbooks and technical documentation to support scalable adoption across multiple teams.
- Evaluate emerging technologies including AI, machine learning and intelligent automation capabilities to improve operational effectiveness.
- Lead automation initiatives from ideation through implementation, including business case development, value quantification and operational adoption.

What you will need to have:
- 8+ years of experience in Infrastructure Operations, Platform Engineering, Automation Engineering, Enterprise Systems Support or related technology disciplines.
- 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions using Python, PowerShell, Shell Scripting, Java.
- 5+ years of core experience in identifying automation opportunities and leading automation initiatives across operations and infrastructure organizations.
- Good to have knowledge of enterprise platforms including Connect:Direct, Sterling File Gateway (SFG), Control-M, IBM i (iSeries), HPE NonStop, Unisys, HSM or similar mission-critical technologies.
- Experience developing workflow automation, orchestration solutions, intelligent monitoring, self-healing capabilities and operational dashboards.
- Experience integrating enterprise platforms using REST APIs, databases, scripting frameworks, and automation tools.
- Experience with Splunk, ServiceNow, Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab, Ansible, UiPath, Automation Anywhere or similar.
- Ability to engage with operational SMEs, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to understand processes and translate requirements into automation solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to influence operational transformation initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science /Information Technology / Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
What would be outstanding to have:
- Experience supporting financial services, payment processing, managed file transfer or large-scale infrastructure environments.
- Experience with AIOps, observability platforms, intelligent alerting, and predictive analytics solutions.
