Job Summary

Applications are invited for the position of

Senior Project Associate under ISRO RESPOND project

titled Large and small-scale ionospheric plasma irregularities using airglow imaging and GNSS TEC measurements. This is a two-year project involving collaboration between Krea University and Physical Research Laboratory (PRL). The primary work location would be Krea University campus in Sri City.

The aim of the project is to develop low-cost imagers to capable of observing ionospheric irregularity structures in the faint oxygen airglow lines emanating from the thermosphere - ionosphere region. In addition, machine learning based automatic sequestration and data analysis algorithms should be developed to process the images. These datasets will be invaluable to study the large-scale ionospheric plasma irregularities and they will be co-studied using existing GNSS TEC measurements from Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) and Krea University.

The candidate should possess knowledge of machine learning and deep learning methods, fundamental physics, be passionate about research, assist in gathering and analyzing datasets, and support overall administrative and research activities of the project wherever required.

Essential Qualifications

- M.Sc./BS-MS/Four-year B.Sc. (Honours)/B.E./B.Tech. in Computer Science, Data Science, Physics, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Space Physics, Geophysics, or a related discipline and four years of research and development experience in industrial or academic institutions or science and technology organizations.

- M.E./ MTech./Integrated Masters in Engineering or Technology in Computer Science, Data Science, Space Science and Technology, Instrumentation and two years of experience in industrial or academic institutions or science and technology organizations.
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Space Physics, Atmospheric Sciences, Geosciences, or a related discipline.

Desirable Skills:

Knowledge on Machine learning methods, Space Plasma Physics, Atmospheric Science, Proficiency in Python and MATLAB programming.

Duration:

The initial offer will be for six months and renewable subject to satisfactory performance. The position is temporary and co-terminus with the project with a maximum duration of 2 years.

Age Limit:

40 years on date of joining.
