Role & responsibilities

Engineering & Structural Design

- Prepare structural drawings and layouts for new equipment installations, including foundation, support structure, and piping/ductwork routing.
- Prepare drawings and technical documentation for current building expansions, shed extensions, and civil-mechanical interface works within the plant.
- Coordinate with architects, civil contractors, and vendors to ensure structural drawings meet plant, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Review and approve fabrication and installation drawings submitted by vendors/contractors prior to execution.
- Maintain updated as-built drawings and technical documentation (P&IDs;, layouts, single-line diagrams) for all equipment and utilities.

Equipment Inspection & Maintenance

- Conduct preliminary and periodic inspections of all plant equipment (process equipment, utilities, HVAC, compressors, boilers, pumps, motors, etc.) to assess condition and identify defects.
- Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance schedules for mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Maintain inspection checklists, equipment history cards, and maintenance logs for audit and regulatory readiness (cGMP compliance).
- Coordinate calibration and validation activities for critical equipment and instruments in liaison with QA/QC.
- Identify equipment nearing end-of-life or requiring upgrade and recommend replacement/refurbishment plans.

Electrical Department Leadership

- Lead, supervise, and coordinate all activities of the Electrical Department including electricians and technicians.
- Oversee electrical installations, panel work, cabling, transformers, DG sets,



motor control centers, and power distribution systems.
- Plan and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for electrical systems and ensure minimal plant downtime.
- Ensure electrical works comply with statutory requirements (CEIG approvals, electrical safety rules, load sanctions) and coordinate with statutory inspectors as needed.
- Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and load calculations for new installations or modifications.
- Manage spare parts inventory, AMC contracts, and vendor coordination for electrical equipment.

Project & Documentation

- Prepare and manage budgets, timelines, and resource plans for engineering projects and equipment installations.
- Coordinate with procurement for spares, tools, and new equipment purchase, including technical specification preparation.
- Maintain SOPs, engineering change control documentation, and reports in line with cGMP and regulatory (USFDA/WHO-GMP) expectations.
- Provide regular reports to Plant Head/Engineering Manager on department performance, breakdowns, and project status.

Preferred candidate profile

- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Electrical knowledge/exposure mandatory); Diploma with extensive relevant experience may also be considered.
- 10-15 years of experience in plant engineering/maintenance, preferably in a pharmaceutical, chemical, or process manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience handling both mechanical and electrical maintenance functions in an industrial/regulated plant.
- Prior experience preparing structural/layout drawings for equipment installation and plant expansion projects.
