About the Position
Steam Point Boilers & Heaters Pvt. Ltd. is looking for an experienced and technically competent Senior Service Engineer to undertake erection supervision, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and after-sales service of steam boilers, thermic fluid heaters, burners, combustion systems and associated auxiliaries.
The candidate must be capable of independently attending breakdown calls, reading electrical circuit diagrams and diagnosing mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and operational problems at customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise erection and commissioning of steam boilers and thermic fluid heaters.
• Commission and troubleshoot oil-fired, gas-fired and solid-fuel-fired combustion systems.
• Independently attend emergency breakdown and service calls at customer sites.
• Read and understand electrical circuit diagrams, control-panel drawings, wiring diagrams, interlock logic and equipment manuals.
• Identify and rectify breakdowns related to control panels, relays, contactors, motor starters, VFDs, sensors, actuators, limit switches and safety interlocks.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, combustion and process-related faults systematically.
• Inspect and service burners, fuel-feeding systems, pumps, fans, valves, dampers and other boiler/heater auxiliaries.
• Check the alignment, installation and operational readiness of equipment before commissioning.
• Conduct cold trials, hydraulic tests, refractory dry-out and hot commissioning.
• Carry out combustion tuning and improve equipment performance, efficiency and reliability.
• Troubleshoot problems related to steam generation, thermic fluid circulation, furnace draft, combustion, fuel feeding and overheating.
• Carry out preventive maintenance,
breakdown maintenance and annual inspection activities.
• Identify spare-parts requirements and recommend suitable corrective actions.
• Prepare site-visit reports, breakdown reports, commissioning reports, inspection reports and pending-point lists.
• Coordinate with customers regarding site readiness, shutdowns, utilities, manpower and commissioning schedules.
• Provide operation and basic maintenance training to customers plant personnel.
• Ensure compliance with electrical and mechanical safety procedures during service and commissioning work.
• Supervise technicians, electricians, fitters, welders and other site personnel whenever required.
• Support the sales and engineering teams through site surveys and technical assessments of existing installations.
• Maintain regular communication with the customer and SPBHPL office throughout each site assignment.
Equipment Exposure Required
The candidate should have hands-on experience with:
• Industrial steam boilers
• Thermic fluid heaters
• Oil and gas burners
• Solid-fuel combustion systems
• FD, ID and PA fans
• Feed-water and thermic-fluid circulation pumps
• Fuel-feeding and ash-handling systems
• Economisers, air preheaters and water preheaters
• Boiler mountings, valves and safety interlocks
• Electrical control panels and motor starters
• VFDs, instruments, sensors and actuators
• Relay-based and PLC-based automation systems
• Boiler and thermic-fluid distribution piping
Educational Qualification
• Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering; or
• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
Essential Skills
• Strong understanding of boilers, thermic fluid heaters and combustion systems.
• Ability to independently diagnose and resolve breakdowns at customer sites.
• Ability to read electrical circuit diagrams, control wiring diagrams and panel schematics.
• Practical knowledge of electrical control panels, motors, starters, relays, contactors, VFDs and safety interlocks.
• Working knowledge of instrumentation and boiler/heater automation.
• Ability to use electrical testing instruments such as a digital multimeter and clamp meter safely.
• Ability to read GA drawings, P&IDs;, piping layouts and equipment manuals.
• Knowledge of commissioning procedures and equipment-protection systems.
• Good customer-handling, communication and site-coordination skills.
• Ability to prepare explicit and complete technical service reports.
• Willingness to travel extensively and remain at project sites as required.
• Ability to work under pressure during emergency breakdowns and commissioning activities.
Preferred Experience
• Experience with multi-fuel industrial boilers and thermic fluid heaters.
• Exposure to IBR boilers and related inspection requirements.
• Experience in electrical fault-finding and control-panel troubleshooting.
• Experience in combustion tuning and performance improvement.
• Experience in leading site teams and independently handling commissioning and breakdown assignments.
• Valid driving licence and readiness for short-notice travel will be an advantage.
