Position - Menswear Designer

Location - Lower Parel, Mumbai

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Design & Development

- Design and develop seasonal and core woven products aligned with the Bombay Shirt Company brand.
- Translate trends and customer insights into commercially relevant products.
- Prepare design concepts, technical sketches, specifications, and tech packs.
- Drive the product development process from concept to bulk production.
- Review prototypes, conduct fittings, and provide detailed fit and construction comments.

2. Technical Product Development

- Develop detailed construction specifications, BOMs, grading, trims, and finishing requirements.
- Work closely with pattern masters and factories to achieve the desired fit and quality.
- Evaluate fabrics, washes, trims, and manufacturing techniques.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering without compromising product quality or customer experience.
- Ensure products meet quality, fit, margin, and performance objectives.

3.Cross-functional Collaboration

- Partner with Merchandising and Planning to build commercially balanced assortments.
- Work with Sourcing to identify fabrics, trims, and manufacturing partners.
- Collaborate with Production and Quality teams to ensure timely approvals and bulk readiness.
- Support Marketing and Creative teams by communicating product features, fabric stories, and key launch details.
- Coordinate with Retail to gather customer feedback and identify opportunities for product improvement. Project & Process Management
- Manage development calendars and ensure milestones are achieved on time.
- Track samples, approvals,



and production readiness across multiple collections.
- Maintain accurate product documentation, specifications, and development trackers.
- Drive cross-functional alignment to ensure smooth product launches.

4. Research & Innovation

- Stay updated on global menswear trends, fabric innovations, construction techniques, and manufacturing processes.
- Benchmark domestic and international brands for product, quality, fit, and design inspiration.
- Recommend improvements to materials, finishes, construction, and product performance.

What We're Looking For

- 4 to 7 years of experience in menswear product design and development.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, pattern development, and manufacturing processes.
- Good knowledge of woven fabrics, trims, washes, and finishing techniques.
- Experience creating technical packs, specifications, and product documentation.
- Commercial mindset with an understanding of costing, margins, and product lifecycle.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple developments simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.




- Robust communication skills and the ability to work effectively across functions and with external vendors. Product Launch & Systems Management
- Own the end-to-end readiness of products for launch across all customer and internal platforms.
- Ensure all product information, specifications, imagery, pricing, and attributes are accurately uploaded and maintained across Shopify, PIM/ERP, and other internal technology platforms.
- Coordinate with Technology, E-commerce, Marketing, Merchandising, and Operations teams to ensure products are launched accurately and on time.
- Maintain product masters, style codes, BOMs, specifications, size charts, care instructions, and other backend product data.
- Validate product pages, imagery, descriptions, and merchandising before products go live.
- Track launch checklists and resolve any issues that could delay product launches.
- Continuously improve product data quality and launch processes to enable faster, error-free go-lives.
