- Robust data engineering and production software engineering skills. The emphasis is more on the SDLC. i.e. NextData OS brings common practices from services software development to data engineering (e.g. CI/CD, testing, data APIs, CLIs as the main DX) . i.e. candidates coming from other software engineering backgrounds are better suited for data product development on Nextdata OS than engineers who have spent their entire careers predominantly in data engineering.
- Experience designing, building, testing, and maintaining Python+SQL-based data applications.
- Familiarity with building data solutions for agentic consumption (e.g. talk to data, semantic layer for agents, evals and benchmarks, MCPs, harnesses, skills, evaluations, context management). Acknowledging that this is a new space for a lot of engineers (i.e. familiarity is enough, Nextdata OS does the main heavy lifting here).
- Familiarity with using agentic coding harnesses to build solutions with AI. Familiarity is enough, Nextdata OS ships with agent SDK that will help with onboarding.
- Experience with one of the data computing environments i.e. (e.g., Snowflake) is required.
