Mojro is a logistics automation platform solving NP-Hard route and load optimization problems at scale - for enterprise customers like Asian Paints, Cargill, Unilever, and PG. Our algorithms move goods across India smarter, faster, and with fewer kilometres wasted. If you have never seen a constraint-satisfaction engine running at 2,500 RPS on a Tuesday morning, you will at Mojro.

Why This Role Exists

We are not hiring a senior developer with a fancy title. We are hiring a leader who can do the work, explain the work, improve the work, and pull a team of sharp engineers toward harder problems - all at once.

You will join as one of a small number of Staff Engineers who collectively own the engineering quality bar at Mojro. You will report to the Head of Engineering, work directly with Principal Architects, and your decisions will ship to production.

You are not done with the keyboard. You review PRs with comments, not just approvals. Your opinions on system design come from having built the system.

You actively use AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code), measure their impact on your team, and make informed bets on where AI accelerates and where it misleads.

You challenge ideas in the room, not in the corridor. You give feedback that is direct but kind - to your team and upward. You can disagree and commit.

Runs on Objectives

You break ambiguity into clear goals, communicate them with context, and hold yourself and your team accountable. You do not need a manager to tell you what matters.

What You Will Own

Technical Leadership - Lead a pod of 5-8 engineers across backend and frontend. Architect and review, not just approve.

Delivery - Drive sprint cadence, unblock bottlenecks, and ship features that enterprise customers stake their operations on.

AI Tooling Adoption - Champion the use of AI coding tools across your team. Measure productivity. Present findings. Drive decisions.

Quality Reliability - Own the teams quality bar - automated test coverage, performance benchmarks, RCA rigour.

Mentorship - Run 1:1s with intent. Grow senior engineers toward staff, mid-level toward senior. Make learning a team ritual.

Cross-Team Influence - Work with Principal Architects, Product, and CSM to shape roadmap, surface technical risks, and defend the right calls.

The Stack

You do not need to know all of this. You need to lead engineers who do, and you need to learn fast what you do not.

Backend: Java, Python

Messaging: Apache Kafka

Databases: PostgreSQL (PGBouncer), MongoDB, Redis / Hazelcast, ClickHouse, Elastic Search

Cloud: Azure (AKS, ADLS, Service Bus)

Frontend: React, Redux

AI/ML: Familiar with embedding pipelines, RAG, and agentic frameworks is a bonus

CI/CD: Azure DevOps, Bitbucket Pipelines

Minimum Bar

8-14 years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years leading a team

Deep hands-on backend experience (Java preferred; Python acceptable)

Proven ability to design and deliver distributed, multi-tenant SaaS systems





Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases at production scale

Demonstrable use and measurement of AI coding tools in a team context

Strong written and verbal communication - you will interact with enterprise customers and founders

B.E / B.Tech in CS, IS, ECE or equivalent demonstrable experience

A fundamentally strong, unbounded problem solver - someone who sees a hard constraint and looks for a way around it, not a reason to stop

Bonus: awareness of Operations Research techniques - linear programming, heuristics, metaheuristics, VRP variants. Not a requirement; we will teach you. But if you already think in constraints and objectives, you will love it here
