Are willing to challenge existing practices and continuously improve them. Have the ability to turn ambitious ideas into practical classroom practice. Roles & Responsibilities: 1. Re imagine Science Teaching & Learning
Leadthedevelopment and continuous refinement of the Science curriculum for Grades 1–10.
Strengtheninquiry-based, constructivist, experiential and hands-on Science learning.
Develop high-quality Teacher Learning Materials, lesson plans, assessments and classroom resources.
Identify opportunities to integrate STEM, experimentation, real-world applications and scientific thinking into the curriculum.
Ensure that Science learning progresses meaningfully from foundational concepts to deeper scientific understanding 2. Develop Exceptional Science Teachers
Designandfacilitate teacher learning programmes and professional development.
MentorLeadFaculty, Department Faculty and Teacher Mentors.
Conductdemonstration lessons, co-teaching, classroom observations and feedback sessions.
Helpteachersmovebeyondtextbook-driven teaching towards questioning, investigation, evidence and reasoning. Buildastrong communityof Science educators who learn from one another. 3. Build the Next Generation of Science Leaders
Identify andnurture emerging teacher leaders within the Science Department.
Strengthenthecapacity of faculty to lead curriculum and teacher development. Establish systems for continuous reflection, review and improvement.
Ensureeffective use of human, material, financial and technological resources. 4. Extend the Work Beyond Muktangan Schools
Workwithpartnerorganisations to understand their educational needs.
Co-designScience curricula, Teacher Learning Materials and teacher development programmes. Facilitate in-person and virtual training programmes.
Conductclassroomobservations and provide evidence-based feedback.
Contribute to Muktangan's outreach and advocacy work. 5. Contribute to the Future of Science Education Keepabreast ofemerging developments in Science education, STEM, scientific literacy and pedagogy.
C ontribute to research, publications and documentation.
R epresent Muktangan at conferences, seminars and professional forums.
C ontribute to Muktangan's thought leadership in Science education. Qualification &
Experience Essential
Postgraduate degree (M.Sc./M.Tech. or equivalent) in Physics or Chemistry.
Minimum 8 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably at middle and secondary school levels.
At least 2 years of experience in teacher education, teacher training or academic leadership.
Experience as a Head of Department (Science), Subject Head or equivalent academic leadership role is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience in leading a Science department and improving curriculum, pedagogy and student learning outcomes. Desirable
PhD/Doctoraldegree in Physics, Chemistry, Science Education or a related discipline.
Experiencein curriculum development, educational research or STEM education.
Experienceworking in teacher education or school transformation programme Required Competencies:
Scientific Expertise Strong subject knowledge in Physics or Chemistry. Ability to connect scientific concepts across disciplines and relate them to everyday life.
Passion for Science Adeepandinfectious passion for Science and scientific inquiry. Ability to inspire curiosity, wonder, questioning and evidence-based thinking in teachers and students. Genuine interest in keeping abreast of current scientific developments and connecting Science to the world around us.
Pedagogical Leadership Strong understanding of constructivist,
inquiry-based and experiential Science education. Ability to translate complex scientific ideas into engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences.
TeacherDevelopment Strong facilitation, mentoring and adult-learning skills. Ability to provide constructive, evidence-based feedback and coach teachers towards improvement.
Leadership Ability to build teams, develop emerging leaders and drive departmental priorities. Strong planning, analytical, communication and collaboration skills.
Mindset Intellectual curiosity Passion for learning and education. Openness to feedback and continuous learning. Persistence, creativity and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for children.
