Consultant – Automation Run Book Analyst

Location: Chennai
Work Mode: Hybrid-3 Days
Experience: 6+ Years

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain automation run books for IT Operations and Managed Services.
- Build automation solutions for incident diagnosis, remediation, and operational tasks.
- Work with automation and orchestration platforms such as Ansible, ServiceNow Orchestration/IntegrationHub, Rundeck, Microsoft SCORCH, or RPA tools.
- Develop diagnostic and remediation scripts using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Ksh.
- Integrate automation with ITSM platforms and incident/event management processes.
- Work with monitoring and observability tools to consume alerts and trigger automated remediation.
- Develop integrations using REST APIs, JSON, XML, webhooks, and other integration mechanisms.
- Create clear and auditable SOPs, technical procedures, flowcharts, and decision trees.
- Ensure automation solutions follow ITIL processes and operational best practices.
- Collaborate with IT Operations, Service Management, and engineering teams to identify automation opportunities.
- Troubleshoot automation failures and continuously improve existing run books.

Required Skills

- 6–10 years of experience in IT Operations / Managed Services.




- Minimum 2–3 years of experience specifically in automation, orchestration, or run book engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with at least one automation/orchestration platform:
- Ansible
- ServiceNow Workflow / IntegrationHub / Orchestration
- Rundeck
- Microsoft SCORCH
- UiPath / Automation Anywhere / Blue Prism
- Strong scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Ksh.
- Positive understanding of ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, or ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus.
- Experience integrating automation with incident and event management.
- Working knowledge of monitoring/observability tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Splunk, Dynatrace, or AppDynamics.
- Understanding of Windows and Linux server administration.
- Good knowledge of REST APIs, JSON/XML, webhooks, and integration concepts.
- Experience creating technical documentation, SOPs, flowcharts, and decision trees.
- Good understanding of ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Knowledge Management.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
