Design Engineer – Press Tool & Die

Position: Design Engineer – Press Tool & Die
Experience: 2 – 5 Years
Location: Bhosari MIDC, Pune

Key Responsibilities:

- Independently design complete press tools, progressive dies, compound dies, and stage tools from concept to detailed drawings
- Develop strip layouts, die assemblies, component detailing, and Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Prepare accurate 2D/3D tool designs as per customer requirements and manufacturing feasibility
- Perform design validation, feasibility studies, and simulations to ensure tool performance and reliability
- Apply GD&T;, design standards, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles
- Coordinate with Tool Room, Production, Quality, and customers for design approvals, modifications, and technical clarifications
- Provide technical support during tool trials and resolve design-related issues
- Maintain design documentation, revision control, drawings, BOMs, and other technical records
- Participate in design reviews and ensure timely completion of assigned projects
- Guide trainees and junior designers by reviewing their work and providing technical corrections and guidance
- Coordinate cross-functional technical decisions and support continuous improvement in tooling design

Qualification:

- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering / Tool Engineering or equivalent
- Diploma / Post Diploma in Mechanical / Tool Engineering or equivalent

Experience:

- 2 – 5 years of relevant experience in Press Tool & Die Design
- Strong hands-on experience in progressive, compound, and stage tool design
- Experience in strip layout development,



die assembly, component detailing, and BOM preparation
- Experience in coordinating with Tool Room, Production, Quality, and customers will be an added advantage

Skills Required:

- Proficiency in CATIA / NX / SolidWorks / AutoCAD
- Strong knowledge of press tool and die design principles
- Expertise in strip layout design and die assembly design
- Good understanding of GD&T;, tolerances, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
- Knowledge of tool feasibility, design validation, and simulation
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Positive communication and team coordination skills
- Ability to independently handle design activities from concept to detailed drawings
- Ability to guide trainees and junior designers

Authority & Responsibilities:

- Monitor and review trainees’ minor and basic design activities and provide corrections and guidance within their competency level
- Coordinate cross-department technical decisions related to design and tooling
- Major design decisions and customer approvals to be taken in consultation with the Design Manager
