Reports to: ERP & MIS Manager /Plant Head

About us
The Print Shop is a printing and packaging manufacturer. We run sheet-fed offset printing with in-house fabrication and embellishing operations at our facility in Pataudi, supplying QSR packaging, monocartons, sweet and cake boxes, carry bags and festive gifting packaging. This new plant is the second largest of its kind in North India and we aim to run it via professional management.
Why this role exists
We run our own ERP and MIS, built and maintained in-house. The plant runs on it — orders, production, stores, dispatch. When it is down or being used incorrectly, production feels it immediately. Our recent facility does not currently have anyone on site who owns IT. Hardware problems wait, ERP questions go unanswered, and internet outages get escalated late. We want one person on the ground who owns all of it.
This is a hands-on job. You will spend as much time on the shop floor with a screwdriver and a cable tester as you will at a desk. If you are looking for a role where you log tickets and escalate them elsewhere, this is not it. If there are no hardware issues, you will be expected to help in implementing the ERP and MIS on the shop floor, training for the same will be provided.
Key responsibilities
1. Hardware - hands-on
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair desktops, terminals, printers, scanners, barcode devices and shop-floor systems.
- Diagnose faults yourself before escalating; carry out component-level replacement where practical.
- Manage warranty claims and AMC vendors, and hold them to their response times.
- Keep a stock of critical spares so a failed machine does not stop a shift.
2. Network and internet connectivity
- Maintain the plant LAN — switches, structured cabling, patch panels, IP addressing.
- Maintain Wi-Fi coverage across the shop floors, stores and admin areas.
- Own the relationship with our leased line ISP: log outages immediately, escalate through the right channels, follow up until restoration, and keep a record of downtime and cause.
- Ensure a working fallback path so that an ISP outage does not halt operations.
3. ERP support, training and adoption
- Be the first point of contact at the plant for every ERP and MIS question.
- Train factory staff — including shop-floor workers with limited computer exposure — to use the system correctly.
- Explain to them why the system matters and what it does for their own work. Adoption is as much a part of this job as troubleshooting.
- Run refresher sessions when modules change or when errors start recurring.
- Report recurring user problems to our ERP & MIS Manager and in-house developer, with clear detail.
4. Coordination with plant maintenance on power
- Work with the maintenance and electrical team on power issues affecting IT equipment — voltage fluctuation, earthing, surge protection, and dedicated circuits for servers, network equipment and workstations.
- Specify the power and earthing requirements IT equipment needs, and follow up until they are met.
- Own UPS systems: battery health, load planning, runtime checks, and scheduled replacement.
- Identify equipment failures caused by power quality and get the root cause fixed rather than replacing the same device repeatedly.
Note: this is a coordination and specification role. All electrical work on industrial panels and wiring is carried out by our licensed electrical team, not by you.
5. Asset and device records
- Maintain a complete, current record of all IT hardware installed at the factory — location, specification, purchase date, warranty status, condition.
- Maintain a register of all company-issued devices — mobile phones, laptops, tablets — with issue and return records signed by the user.
- Run periodic physical audits and reconcile against the register.
- Handle device issue on joining and recovery on exit, in coordination with HR.
6. Server room, backups and security
- Maintain the server room: physical access, cleanliness, cooling, cable discipline, environmental checks.
- Ensure backups run, and test restores periodically. A backup that has never been restored is not a backup.
- Manage user accounts and access, antivirus, patching and software licensing.
- Support the rollout of our AI surveillance system — cameras, recorders, network requirements — alongside the vendor's implementation team.
7. General
- Maintain documentation: network diagrams, IP schedules, vendor contacts, standard procedures.
- Support new equipment installation and plant expansion.
- Any other IT responsibility that a manufacturing site of this size reasonably requires.
8. ERP and MIS implementation
- You will be trained in all modules of our ERP and will be expected to train the workforce for the same. Many doubts arise on the shop floor regarding the ERP and you'll be expected to answer them.
- Daily Data Entry Matching: a general overview of all production data to check whether workforce is correctly using the ERP or not.
What we're looking for
*Must have*
- 2+ years of hands-on IT support, preferably in a factory, plant, warehouse or other multi-user operating environment.
- Genuine hardware troubleshooting ability — you open the machine rather than sending it out by default.
- Working knowledge of networking: LAN, switches, IP addressing, structured cabling, Wi-Fi.
- Windows desktop and basic server administration; backup and restore.
- Fluent Hindi. You will be training shop-floor workers, and this is not optional.
- Patience with non-technical users, and the ability to explain a system without condescension.
- Willing to be on the shop floor, in a working factory environment, every day.
- Based in or able to commute reliably to Pataudi, Haryana.
*Good to have*
- Experience supporting an ERP or MIS in a manufacturing setting.
- Exposure to CCTV, NVR systems or biometric attendance hardware.
- Basic SQL or report-running ability.
- Understanding of UPS sizing, earthing and power quality as it affects IT equipment.
- CompTIA A+/Network+, CCNA, or equivalent practical certification.
*How you work*
- Self-starting. Nobody on site will tell you what is broken; you are expected to notice.
- Methodical about records — the asset register is a real deliverable, not paperwork.
- Calm when production is stopped and everyone is looking at you.
- Comfortable holding an ISP or AMC vendor to account rather than accepting a delay.
What success looks like
Timeline | Outcome |
First 30 days | Complete inventory of all IT hardware and issued devices; network mapped and documented; the top recurring faults identified. |
First 90 days | Asset and device registers live and maintained; ISP escalation path established with downtime logged; backups verified by test restore; first round of ERP user training delivered. |
First 6 months | Measurable reduction in hardware downtime and repeat faults; ERP used correctly across departments with fewer support calls per user; power-related equipment failures traced and resolved at source. |
