Job Description – Senior Manager, HR Business Partner (HRBP)
Position
Senior Manager – HR Business Partner
Location - Mumbai
Department - Human Resources
Reports To - HR Sr Director
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager – HRBP to lead the HR function for our Mumbai location and partner closely with business leaders to drive people strategy, employee engagement, performance, talent development, and organizational effectiveness.
The role will serve as a strategic HR partner to the Mumbai leadership team while also ensuring strong execution of HR processes and policies across the location.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on HR leader who can balance business priorities with employee needs, provide strong leadership counsel, and proactively identify and address people-related risks and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Partnering
- - Partner with business leaders and managers to understand business priorities and translate them into effective people strategies.
- Act as the primary HR point of contact for the Mumbai location.
- Provide HR guidance on organizational structure, workforce planning, talent, performance, employee relations, and people-related decisions.
- Develop a strong understanding of business operations, productivity, workforce requirements, and key business challenges.
- Participate in leadership discussions and provide data-driven people insights and recommendations.
2. Employee Engagement & Retention
- - Drive employee engagement initiatives across the Mumbai location.
- Monitor employee sentiment, engagement trends, and key retention risks.
- Conduct stay interviews and identify actions to retain critical talent.
- Analyze attrition trends and develop targeted retention plans.
- Partner with managers to address employee concerns and improve the overall employee experience.
3. Performance Management
- - Drive the annual performance management process across the location.
- Partner with managers on goal setting, performance reviews, ratings, and performance improvement plans.
- Ensure consistency and fairness in performance management practices.
- Coach managers on addressing performance concerns effectively and fairly.
- Identify high performers and critical talent and support appropriate development and retention actions.
4. Talent Management & Career Development
- - Partner with business leaders to identify critical roles and talent gaps.
- Drive succession planning and talent reviews.
- Support internal mobility and IJP programs.
- Identify career growth opportunities for employees and work with managers to create development plans.
- Partner with L&D; on leadership and capability-building initiatives.
5. Employee Relations
- - Manage and resolve employee relations matters in a fair, consistent, and timely manner.
- Handle grievances, disciplinary matters, investigations, and workplace concerns in partnership with HR leadership and Legal, where required.
- Ensure appropriate documentation and adherence to company policies and applicable employment regulations.
- Support managers in handling sensitive employee situations.
6. Workforce Planning & Organization Effectiveness
- - Partner with business leaders on workforce planning and resource requirements.
- Support organizational restructuring, role changes, transfers, promotions, and other organizational initiatives.
- Monitor workforce metrics including headcount, attrition, absenteeism, productivity, and internal movement.
- Identify organizational gaps and recommend people solutions.
7. HR Analytics & Reporting
- - Develop and present regular HR dashboards and business insights to leadership.
- Track key people metrics including:
- Attrition
- Headcount
- Employee engagement
- Absenteeism
- Internal movement
- Performance
- Hiring and workforce trends
8. HR Policy & Compliance
- - Ensure effective implementation of HR policies and processes across the Mumbai location.
- Partner with HR Compliance and Legal teams to ensure adherence to applicable employment requirements.
- Identify policy/process gaps and recommend improvements.
- Ensure managers understand and consistently apply HR policies.
9. Leadership & Team Management
- - Lead and mentor the HR team supporting the Mumbai location.
- Establish clear priorities and accountability within the HR team.
- Build strong relationships with business and functional leaders.
- Drive a proactive and business-focused HR culture.
- Coach HR team members and support their professional development.
10. Change Management
- - Support business transformation, organizational changes, new process implementations, and other strategic initiatives.
- Develop effective employee communication and change-management plans.
- Help leaders manage change while maintaining employee engagement and business continuity.

Education & Experience
- - Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- MBA/PGDM in HR preferred.
- 15–18 years of progressive HR experience, with significant experience in a senior HRBP/HR leadership role.
- Proven experience partnering with senior business leaders and managing HR for a large location/business unit.
- Robust experience in employee relations, talent management, performance management, workforce planning, engagement, and organizational effectiveness.
- Experience managing and developing an HR team.
- Experience in BPO/ITES/operations environments preferred.
- Strong exposure to managing HR for a multi-layered workforce, including frontline employees, managers, and senior leadership.
