Job Description
Position Overview
The Cell Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, reliability, and uptime of all cell manufacturing equipment. The role includes preventive and breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical/electrical issues, coordinating with production teams, and implementing improvements to minimize downtime and enhance equipment performance.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of cell manufacturing machines (coating, slitting, calendaring, winding, notching, assembly, formation & grading, etc.).
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure machines are in optimal working condition.
- Maintain maintenance logs and machine history records.
Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues in production equipment.
- Repair equipment with minimum downtime to ensure continuous production.
- Support calibration and testing of machine components.
Process & Equipment Improvement
- Identify recurring failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Suggest and execute modifications to improve equipment efficiency and reliability.
- Work with the Process Engineering team to enhance machine performance.
Spare Parts & Inventory Management
- Monitor critical spare parts, tools, and consumables.
- Ensure availability of spares to avoid production delays.
- Coordinate with the purchase team for spare procurement.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain records such as PM checklists,
breakdown reports, and equipment manuals.
- Follow maintenance SOPs, safety guidelines, and industry standards.
- Support internal and external audits (ISO/IATF where applicable).
Cross‑Functional Coordination
- Work closely with production and quality teams to resolve equipment-related issues.
- Support installation, commissioning, and testing of new equipment.
- Train operators on basic machine handling and checks.
Safety & EHS
- Ensure all maintenance activities follow EHS (Workplace, Health & Safety) procedures.
- Report safety incidents, near misses, and take corrective measures.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with PLCs, sensors, motors, drives, and automation systems.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with maintenance tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Qualifications
- Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- 2–6 years of experience in equipment maintenance (preferably in battery cell manufacturing, electronics, automotive, or similar industries).
- Knowledge of PLC, SCADA, robotics, and automation is an added advantage.
