Job Description – NICU Staff Nurse
Position: NICU Staff Nurse
Department: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Location: Sanjivini Super Speciality Hospital, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow
Employment Type: Full-Time
Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate NICU Staff Nurse to provide specialized nursing care to newborns, including premature, critically ill, and low-birth-weight babies. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring patients, administering medications, maintaining accurate documentation, and assisting doctors during neonatal care and emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care to neonates as per hospital protocols.
- Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, temperature, feeding, and overall condition of babies.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, injections, and other treatments as prescribed by doctors.
- Handle and monitor NICU equipment such as incubators, radiant warmers, ventilators, CPAP, and monitors.
- Assist doctors during procedures, resuscitation, and neonatal emergencies.
- Maintain proper medication charts, nursing notes, intake-output records, and patient documentation.
- Follow strict infection-control and hygiene protocols.
- Maintain proper feeding schedules and monitor feeding tolerance.
- Identify changes in the baby's condition and immediately inform the concerned doctor.
- Ensure proper handover and takeover between shifts.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and discipline within the NICU.
- Handle NICU emergencies promptly and responsibly.
- Communicate professionally with parents/attendants while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Follow all hospital policies, SOPs, and instructions from senior nursing staff.
Required Qualifications
- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Valid nursing registration.
- Previous NICU experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of neonatal emergency care and resuscitation.
Required Skills
- Good clinical and observation skills.
- Ability to work calmly in emergency situations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Valuable documentation and medication-management skills.
- Compassionate and patient approach toward newborns and their families.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including night shifts.
Experience
2–3 years of relevant NICU experience preferred.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
