Plant Head – Flexible Packaging

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Plant Head to lead and scale manufacturing operations for a fast-growing sustainable packaging company.

The role will be responsible for the end-to-end operations of the manufacturing plant, including production, process engineering, quality, maintenance, EHS, cost management, capacity expansion and team leadership.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in flexible packaging manufacturing, particularly in coating, extrusion coating, lamination, converting, films or paper-based flexible packaging.

Key ResponsibilitiesPlant Operations

- Lead end-to-end plant operations and ensure achievement of production, quality, cost and delivery targets.
- Plan and manage production schedules based on customer requirements.
- Drive productivity, capacity utilization, yield and OEE.
- Establish and maintain robust SOPs, production standards and process controls.
- Identify production bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement.

Flexible Packaging Manufacturing

- Robust understanding of flexible packaging manufacturing processes including:
- Extrusion / extrusion coating
- Water-based / solvent-based coating
- Adhesive coating and lamination
- Film processing
- Paper and film converting
- Slitting and rewinding
- Printing and finishing
- Optimize coating weight, adhesion, curing/drying, barrier properties and material utilization.
- Drive process consistency and minimize rejection, wastage and rework.
- Support development and commercialization of new packaging structures.

Plant Scale-Up & Commissioning

- Lead plant expansion, equipment installation and commissioning activities.
- Work with vendors on machinery selection, installation and commissioning.
- Develop plant layout, production flow and capacity plans.
- Establish processes and systems required to scale production from pilot to commercial volumes.




- Support automation and technology upgrades.

Quality

- Ensure consistent product quality and adherence to customer specifications.
- Establish quality control parameters for raw materials, in-process production and finished products.
- Drive root-cause analysis, CAPA and reduction of customer complaints.
- Work closely with R&D; and Quality teams on product development and scale-up.

Maintenance & Engineering

- Ensure high equipment availability and minimum downtime.
- Establish preventive and predictive maintenance systems.
- Lead breakdown analysis and corrective actions.
- Manage utilities, machinery maintenance and engineering requirements.

Cost & Productivity

- Own plant manufacturing costs and drive cost optimization.
- Improve material yield and reduce process wastage.
- Monitor and improve:
- OEE
- Conversion cost
- Material consumption
- Scrap / wastage
- Downtime
- Production efficiency

EHS & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with applicable factory, environmental and safety regulations.
- Implement strong EHS practices across the plant.
- Ensure safe handling and storage of chemicals, coatings, adhesives and other production materials.
- Drive a zero-incident safety culture.

Team Leadership

- Build and lead production, quality, maintenance and engineering teams.
- Define manpower requirements as the plant scales.
- Hire, train and develop plant personnel.
- Establish clear KPIs and performance management systems.
- Build a culture of accountability, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile

- 12–18 years of experience in flexible packaging manufacturing.
- Minimum 5+ years in a senior plant / manufacturing leadership role.

- Flexible laminates
- Extrusion coating
- Adhesive lamination
- Film manufacturing
- Coating
- Paper-based flexible packaging
- Sustainable packaging
- Converting
- Strong understanding of packaging materials, substrates, coatings, adhesives and barrier technologies.
- Experience managing production, quality, maintenance and engineering functions.
- Proven experience in plant expansion, commissioning or scale-up is preferred.
- Strong exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent people management and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong commercial and cost-management orientation.
- Comfortable working in a startup / high-growth environment.

Opportunity

This is a high-impact leadership role for an experienced flexible packaging professional who wants to build and scale a next-generation sustainable packaging manufacturing operation.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in taking innovative sustainable packaging technology from pilot production to large-scale commercial manufacturing.

Pay: ₹1,200,000.00 - ₹1,500,000.00 per year
