New Product Development (NPD) Executive
Solid Wood Furniture Manufacturing
Designation: NPD Executive
Department: New Product Development / Design & Engineering
Location: Jaipur, Rajasthan
Experience: 2–4 years in furniture / woodworking manufacturing
Reports to: NPD Manager / Head of Design & Production
Employment type: Full-time, on-site
Role Summary
We are looking for a hands-on NPD Executive to lead the development of new solid wood furniture products from concept to production-ready output. The role bridges design and the factory floor — translating design intent into accurate AutoCAD drawings, detailed wood cutting lists, and CNC programs that the workshop can manufacture efficiently. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for woodworking detail, material behaviour, and joinery, and enjoys taking a prototype from first sketch to a repeatable production process.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new solid wood furniture designs and prototypes in collaboration with the design, sales, and production teams.
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings, including assembly drawings, part drawings, exploded views, and shop drawings with correct dimensions and tolerances.
- Create accurate wood cutting lists / cut sheets specifying part sizes, quantities, grain direction, timber species, and material optimisation to minimise wastage.
- Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs for machining wood components (routing, drilling, profiling, joinery) and support operators during trial runs.
- Build and test physical prototypes; evaluate fit, finish, strength, and joinery, and drive changes until the product is production-ready.
- Prepare and maintain a Bill of Materials (BOM), material specifications, and technical documentation for each recent product.
- Coordinate with procurement on timber, hardware, and finishes; recommend cost-effective materials without compromising quality.
- Work with the production team to establish machining sequences, jigs, and fixtures for a smooth transition from prototype to bulk production.
- Estimate material consumption and support costing for new products.
- Ensure designs meet quality, durability, and finishing standards, and incorporate feedback from production and customers.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D/3D furniture and joinery drawings (working drawings, sections, and details).
- Strong ability to prepare and interpret wood cutting lists / cut sheets and optimise panel and timber usage.
- Hands-on knowledge of CNC programming and operation for woodworking (nesting, routing, boring); familiarity with CAM software is a plus.
- Sound understanding of solid wood — timber species, seasoning, moisture behaviour, grain, and movement.
- Working knowledge of joinery methods (mortise & tenon, dowel, dovetail, etc.), hardware, and wood finishes.
- Ability to read and produce technical drawings, BOMs, and production documentation.
- Good problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail on dimensions, tolerances, and fit.
Preferred / Added Advantage
- Experience with 3D modelling / design software (SketchUp, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Exposure to panel-processing or nesting software and CNC machine setup.
- Understanding of furniture costing and material optimisation.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical / Production Engineering, Furniture Design, Wood Technology, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in a furniture, joinery, or woodworking manufacturing environment.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
Benefits:
- Health insurance
- Leave encashment
- Paid sick time
- Paid time off
- Provident Fund
Experience:
- AutoCAD: 1 year (Required)
- Sketchup: 1 year (Preferred)
- Fusion 360: 1 year (Preferred)
- SolidWorks: 1 year (Preferred)
- panel-processing or nesting software : 1 year (Preferred)
