Position: Senior / Lead Video Editor – Digital Media & Explainers

Language Focus: Kannada (Native / Fluent)

Location: On-site / Hybrid / Remote

1. About the Role

We are looking for a skilled, detail-oriented Video Editor to produce fast-paced, high-retention Kannada news breakdowns, explainer videos, geopolitical analysis, and historical documentary-style content. You will be responsible for transforming raw host footage into engaging, highly visual stories using stock footage, motion graphics, and clean audio layout.

2. Key Responsibilities

- Edit daily news explainer videos (10–25 minutes) and short-form digital clips under tight turnarounds.
- Source relevant overlay materials (archival footage, news clips, maps, charts, royalty-free stock assets).
- Synchronize presenter A-roll with dynamic visual B-roll, lower-thirds, text overlays, and infographics.
- Clean and balance voiceover audio, add background music tracks, and sound effects (SFX) to maintain pacing.
- Create eye-catching vertical shorts/reels from long-form episodes.

3. Style & Technical Requirements

- Editing Style: Fast-paced cuts, visual evidence mapping, newsroom lower-thirds, on-screen text highlights, document callouts, and animated charts.
- Software Mastery: Adobe Premiere Pro (Required), After Effects (Required for motion graphics/map animations), Photoshop (for basic asset prep), and DaVinci Resolve (Bonus).
- Audio Engineering: Audition or Premiere essential audio panel for noise reduction and voice leveling.

4. Required Qualifications & Experience

- 2+ years of professional video editing experience in digital news, documentaries, or high-volume YouTube channels.
- Deep familiarity with Kannada digital media platforms, trends, and audience retention strategies.




- Proven ability to turn around 1–2 polished long-form videos per day.

5. Language Skills

- Kannada (Native/Fluent): Must be able to follow Kannada voiceovers accurately to line up relevant visual overlays and Kannada text titles without spelling or context errors.
- English (Professional): Ability to read scripts and search global stock libraries effectively.

6. Preferred / Bonus Skills

- Basic 2D animation skills (map route animations, image pop-ups, document highlighting).
- Graphic design capability for creating high-CTR YouTube thumbnails.
- Basic understanding of copyright laws and fair-use guidelines for news/archival clips.

7. Expected Deliverables & KPIs

- Daily Output: 1–2 long-form videos + 1–2 YouTube Shorts / Instagram Reels.
- Retention Metric: Maintaining target audience retention through engaging cuts, sound design, and minimal visual dead space.

8. Key Competencies

- Strong story sense and pacing (knowing when to cut vs. when to let a moment breathe).
- High speed and consistency under daily newsroom deadlines.
- Attention to detail in visual research and asset organization.

9. Compensation & Work Setup

- Salary: Competitive based on experience and portfolio quality (₹25,000 – ₹55,000+/month dependent on skill level).
- Work Type: Full-time (6 days/week to match news cycles).
- Gear: High-performance editing workstation provided (if on-site) or editing hardware allowance provided.
