Electrician – C or B Licence Holder

License Required: C Licence or B Licence – CEIG, Tamil Nadu

Reporting To: Electrical Manager

1. Job Purpose

To carry out electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting works in the factory as per IE Rules 1956 and CEIG regulations. Ensure safe, uninterrupted power supply for plant operations with valid C or B Licence authorization.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Electrical Maintenance

- Daily Maintenance: Check LT panels, MCC, PCC, DBs, motors, lighting, and earthing systems.

- Preventive Maintenance: Carry out PM schedules for transformers, DG sets, capacitors, motors as per checklist.

- Breakdown Maintenance: Attend electrical breakdowns in machines, panels, utilities and restore in minimum time.

- Cable Works: Laying, jointing, termination of LT cables up to 1100V.

B. Installation & Testing

- New Installations: Install recent motors, starters, control panels, lighting as per SLD under Engineer supervision.

- Testing: Use megger, multimeter, earth tester to check IR value, continuity, voltage, current, earth resistance.

- Licence Scope: C Licence holders – up to 650V works. B Licence holders – up to 33kV works as per CEIG norms.

C. Safety & Compliance

- Work Permit: Follow LOTO system before working on electrical equipment.

- Statutory Compliance: Maintain logs as per IE Rules – earth test register, insulation register, accident register.

- PPE: Use safety shoes, gloves, helmet while working. Ensure safety of self and others.

- CEIG Inspection:



Assist during annual CEIG inspection and rectify defects pointed out.

D. Documentation

- Log Books: Update shift log book, breakdown register, PM checklist daily.

- Energy Meter Reading: Note DG, EB, transformer readings every shift.

- Material Handling: Raise material request for spares – MCB, contactor, fuse, cable, etc.

3. Required Qualifications

Parameter

-Education- ITI Electrician / Diploma in EEE

-Licence -C Licence – for LT works up to 650V *or B Licence* – for HT works up to 33kV. Must be valid & issued by CEIG, Tamil Nadu

-Experience-2-5 years in factory/plant maintenance

-Knowledge- IE Rules 1956, LT/HT panels, motor starters, DOL/Star-Delta, VFD basics, earthing, DG set operation

-Skills- Reading electrical drawings, troubleshooting, teamwork

4. Key Skills

1. Able to handle 3-phase LT/HT systems independently

2. Knowledge of relays, timers, PLC panel basics – added advantage

3. Working knowledge of DG set, Transformer, APFC panel

4. Familiar with safety norms – LOTO, Work Permit, Earthing standards

5. Physical fitness to work in shifts, at height, in confined spaces

5. Working Conditions

- Shift: Rotational shifts including night shift

- Location: Factory floor, substation, utility area

- Risk: Work near live panels – safety compliance mandatory

Note: As per CEIG, Tamil Nadu:

- C Licence = Competency Certificate – can do wiring & supervision up to 650V

- B Licence = Supervisor Certificate – can supervise works up to 33kV

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
