Job Description: Botanist

Location: Chuvannamannu, Thrissur

Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Botanist to join our Quality Control Department. The candidate will be responsible for the botanical identification, authentication, and quality evaluation of medicinal plants and herbal raw materials used in Ayurvedic medicine manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

- Identification and authentication of medicinal plants and herbal raw materials.
- Verification of botanical names, plant parts, and raw-material identity.
- Conducting organoleptic and macroscopic evaluation of herbal raw materials.
- Assisting in the detection of adulteration, substitution, and contamination of medicinal plants.
- Maintaining botanical reference samples, records, and documentation.
- Supporting the QC team in raw-material inspection and quality assessment.
- Assisting in the preparation and review of specifications, standards, and related QC documents.
- Ensuring proper documentation in accordance with GMP and Quality Management System requirements.
- Coordinating with Raw Material Stores, Purchase, and other departments regarding botanical identification and quality issues.




- Supporting investigations related to herbal raw-material quality deviations and complaints.
- Performing other QC-related responsibilities assigned by the management.

Requirements:

- B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Botany or equivalent qualification..
- 3 - 4 years of relevant experience in Quality Control, Ayurvedic manufacturing, herbal/pharmaceutical industries, or medicinal plant identification.
- Strong knowledge of medicinal plant identification and taxonomy.
- Knowledge of botanical nomenclature and authentication of herbal raw materials.
- Good observation and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of GMP and QC documentation.
- Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in MS Office.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a Quality Control team.
