Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager – QA/QC to lead the Quality Assurance and Quality Control function across shipbuilding, ship repair, dry-docking, marine fabrication, and engineering projects.

The role will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the QMS, ensuring compliance with Class Society requirements, client specifications, applicable codes and standards, and leading multidisciplinary QA/QC teams. Senior shipyard QA/QC roles typically include responsibility for QAP/ITP, welding and NDT control, audits, NCR/CAPA, calibration, documentation, and Class/Client coordination.

Key Responsibilities

1. QA/QC Leadership

- Lead and manage the complete QA/QC department.
- Supervise QA/QC Engineers, Inspectors, Welding Inspectors and NDT personnel.
- Establish quality objectives, KPIs and performance standards.
- Ensure QA/QC maintains appropriate independence from production functions.

2. Quality Management System

- Develop, implement and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and applicable marine/shipbuilding standards.
- Prepare and review Quality Manuals, SOPs, procedures and work instructions.
- Conduct internal audits and coordinate external/customer audits.
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives.

3. Project Quality Planning

- Prepare and review Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) and inspection procedures.
- Review project specifications, drawings, contracts and Class requirements.
- Establish inspection stages, hold points and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure proper quality documentation from material receipt through final delivery.

4. Welding & Fabrication Quality





- Control welding activities in accordance with approved WPS/PQR/WPQ.
- Monitor welder qualifications and welding performance.
- Supervise structural fabrication, hull welding, piping and outfitting inspections.
- Monitor weld repair rates and implement corrective measures.
- Ensure welding consumables are properly controlled and traceable.

5. NDT & Inspection

- Coordinate and monitor RT, UT, MT and PT activities.
- Ensure NDT is performed by qualified personnel and as per approved procedures.
- Review NDT reports and ensure timely closure of defects.
- Coordinate dimensional, visual, pressure and functional inspections.

6. Class / Client / TPI Coordination

- Act as the senior QA/QC point of contact for Classification Societies, clients and third-party inspectors.
- Coordinate inspections, surveys and acceptance activities.
- Address and close inspection observations and deficiencies.
- Maintain good communication with project, production and engineering teams.

7. NCR & Corrective Action

- Control NCRs, deviations, concessions and waiver requests.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement CAPA.
- Monitor rework, rejection and defect trends.
- Ensure timely closure of quality issues.

8. Material & Documentation Control

- Ensure material identification and traceability.
- Review MTCs, inspection certificates and vendor documentation.




- Ensure calibration of measuring and inspection equipment.
- Maintain quality dossiers, inspection reports, test certificates and final project documentation.

9. Team Development

- Train QA/QC personnel and production teams on quality requirements.
- Develop competency and training plans.
- Conduct quality awareness programs.
- Promote a strong “Right First Time” quality culture.

Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical, Marine, Naval Architecture, Metallurgy or related engineering discipline.
- 10–15+ years of relevant QA/QC experience, preferably in shipbuilding, ship repair, naval refit, offshore, marine fabrication or heavy engineering.
- Minimum 5 years in a managerial/leadership position.
- Experience with Classification Society and client inspections is highly desirable.

Preferred Certifications

- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor / Internal Auditor
- CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2 Welding Inspector
- ASNT Level II / III – NDT
- BGAS / FROSIO Painting Inspection certification is an advantage.
- Knowledge of relevant Class Society rules such as IRS, DNV, ABS, BV, LR, etc.

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹65,000.00 per month
