JOB DESCRIPTION – SALES OFFICER
Position: Sales Officer
Territory: Nashik District & Dhule District
Reporting To: Management / Authorized Sales Head
Department: Sales & Marketing
Employment Type: Full-Time
1. JOB PURPOSE
The Sales Officer will be responsible for developing, managing and expanding the Company's sales network in Nashik and Dhule Districts.
The primary responsibility will be to build and manage the Distributor → DSR → Retailer network and achieve the Company's assigned sales targets through systematic fieldwork, sales planning, distributor management, DSR supervision, retailer development and regular reporting.
The Sales Officer will act as the key link between the Company Management, Distributors, DSRs and Retailers.
2. KEY BUSINESS RESPONSIBILITIES
The Sales Officer shall be responsible for:
- Appointment and development of 10 Distributors.
- Appointment and management of 10 DSRs.
- Development of approximately 180 Retail Counters per DSR.
- Development of approximately 1,800 Retail Counters across the complete network.
- Achieving a target of approximately 30 Retailer visits per DSR per working day.
- Achieving a monthly target of ₹7,20,000 per DSR.
- Managing an aggregate monthly sales target of ₹72,00,000 for 10 DSRs.
- Generating regular Primary Orders from Distributors.
- Monitoring Secondary Sales generated by DSRs.
- Monitoring Distributor stock and market movement.
- Conducting regular DSR review meetings.
- Submitting daily, weekly and monthly sales reports to Management.
3. DISTRIBUTOR DEVELOPMENT
The Sales Officer shall identify, evaluate and appoint suitable Distributors within the assigned territory.
Responsibilities:
- Identify potential Distributors.
- Conduct market surveys.
- Study market potential and territory coverage.
- Evaluate Distributor infrastructure and financial capability.
- Explain Company products, margins, schemes and business terms.
- Submit suitable Distributor proposals to Management.
- Complete the Distributor appointment process.
- Support the Distributor during initial market development.
- Develop regular business with appointed Distributors.
- Maintain professional relationships with Distributors.
Target: 10 Distributors
4. DSR RECRUITMENT & MANAGEMENT
The Sales Officer shall recruit, train and manage 10 DSRs through the Distributor network.
Responsibilities:
- Identify suitable DSR candidates.
- Conduct selection and joining process.
- Provide product and sales training.
- Explain Company sales procedures.
- Prepare and implement Beat Plans.
- Train DSRs in retailer handling.
- Train DSRs in order generation.
- Monitor daily field activity.
- Review DSR performance.
- Identify underperforming DSRs.
- Take corrective action.
- Maintain DSR-wise performance records.
5. RETAILER DEVELOPMENT
The Sales Officer shall ensure continuous development of the Company's Retailer network.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new Retail Counters.
- Maintain existing Retailers.
- Increase active Retailers.
- Generate repeat orders.
- Improve product visibility.
- Monitor retailer demand.
- Collect market feedback.
- Identify new market opportunities.
- Support DSRs in difficult markets.
- Ensure regular market coverage.
Reference Target: Approximately 180 Retailers per DSR.
6. DSR DAILY FIELD MANAGEMENT
The Sales Officer shall ensure that every DSR follows the approved daily Beat Plan.
Expected DSR Activity:
Approximately 30 Retail Counter visits per DSR per working day.
The Sales Officer shall monitor:
- Planned Visits
- Actual Visits
- Effective Calls
- Orders Received
- Order Value
- New Retailers
- Repeat Orders
- Product Requirement
- Market Feedback
- Competitor Activity
- Collection / Outstanding Follow-up
False or unsupported field visits and sales reports shall not be accepted.
7. PRIMARY SALES MANAGEMENT
The Sales Officer shall be responsible for generating regular Primary Orders from Distributors.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor Distributor stock.
- Review product-wise stock.
- Identify fast-moving products.
- Identify slow-moving products.
- Identify stock-out situations.
- Calculate Distributor requirements.
- Generate Primary Orders.
- Follow up pending orders.
- Coordinate with Company dispatch.
- Monitor delivery status.
- Ensure adequate stock availability.
- Verify that Primary Sales are supported by genuine market demand.
8. DISTRIBUTOR STOCK MONITORING
Regular Distributor visits shall be conducted to review:
- Physical Stock
- Product-wise Stock
- Fast-moving Products
- Slow-moving Products
- Stock-out Products
- Damaged Stock
- Pending Orders
- New Order Requirement
- Sales Movement
- Retailer Demand
The Sales Officer shall ensure that Distributor stock is properly managed according to market demand.
9. DAILY REPORTING
The Sales Officer shall collect and review Daily Reports from all DSRs.
The Daily Report shall include:
- Date
- Beat / Area
- Planned Retail Counters
- Actual Retail Counters Visited
- Effective Calls
- Orders Received
- Order Value
- Current Retailers Added
- Repeat Orders
- Product Requirements
- Stock Issues
- Competitor Activity
- Market Feedback
- Collection / Outstanding Follow-up
- Next Day Plan
The Sales Officer shall review the reports daily and take corrective action wherever required.
10. WEEKLY REVIEW MEETING
The Sales Officer shall conduct a DSR Review Meeting at least once every week.
The meeting shall review:
- Weekly Sales
- Daily Retailer Coverage
- DSR Performance
- New Retailers
- Active Retailers
- Repeat Orders
- Order Value
- Distributor Stock
- Primary Orders
- Market Problems
- Competitor Activity
- Target Achievement
- Target Shortfall
- Next Week's Action Plan
Important decisions and action points shall be recorded.
11. SALES TARGET MANAGEMENTDSR Target
₹7,20,000 per DSR per month
Target for 10 DSRs
₹72,00,000 per month
The Sales Officer shall continuously monitor:
Target vs. Actual Sales
on a:
- DSR-wise basis
- Distributor-wise basis
- Territory-wise basis
Any sales shortfall shall be identified immediately and a corrective action plan shall be prepared.
12. MARKET DEVELOPMENT
The Sales Officer shall continuously identify new business opportunities.
Responsibilities include:
- New market identification.
- New retailer development.
- New Distributor opportunities.
- Competitor analysis.
- Product demand analysis.
- Price and scheme feedback.
- Retailer feedback.
- Customer complaints.
- Product movement analysis.
- Territory expansion.
13. COMPETITOR MONITORING
The Sales Officer shall regularly collect information regarding competing products.
The report should cover:
- Competitor Brands
- Product Range
- Retail Price
- Distributor Price
- Retailer Margin
- Schemes
- Promotional Activities
- Product Movement
- Market Demand
- Competitor Strengths
- Competitor Weaknesses
Relevant market intelligence shall be submitted to Management.
14. COLLECTION & OUTSTANDING FOLLOW-UP
The Sales Officer shall coordinate with Distributors regarding outstanding payments and collections.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring Distributor outstanding amounts.
- Following up overdue payments.
- Communicating Company credit policies.
- Reporting payment risks to Management.
- Avoiding unauthorized credit commitments.
- Supporting timely settlement of accounts.
The Sales Officer shall not independently authorize credit, discount or financial commitments unless specifically authorized by Management.

- Not submit false visits, orders or sales.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Protect Company property and commercial interests.
- Follow Management instructions and approved sales procedures.
19. AUTHORITY & LIMITATIONS
The Sales Officer shall operate within the authority delegated by Management.
The Sales Officer shall not independently:
- Change Company prices.
- Approve unauthorized discounts.
- Approve unauthorized credit.
- Make financial commitments on behalf of the Company.
- Change Distributor terms without approval.
- Make employment commitments to DSRs without authorization.
All such matters shall be referred to Management.
20. TRAVEL & FIELD RESPONSIBILITY
The Sales Officer shall be required to travel extensively within the assigned territory of Nashik and Dhule Districts.
Official travel shall be performed according to the Company's approved travel policy.
The Sales Officer shall maintain proper:

21. CONFIDENTIALITY
The Sales Officer shall maintain strict confidentiality regarding:

Company information shall not be disclosed to unauthorized persons.
22. PERFORMANCE REVIEW
The Sales Officer's performance shall be reviewed periodically based on:

- Daily Field Activity

- Stock Management

Continued underperformance may result in a performance review and appropriate action as per Company policy and applicable law.
23. REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate should possess:
- Sales and Marketing experience.

Experience in FMCG / Namkeen / Food Products / General Trade Distribution shall be preferred.
