About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Go (Golang) to design, build, and scale the backend systems that power our platform. This is an architecture-focused role: you will not just write code but shape how our services are structured, how they communicate, and how they scale reliably in production. You will work closely with product, DevOps, and frontend teams to deliver robust, high-performance systems on AWS.

Familiarity with Node.js is a strong plus, and working knowledge of JavaScript is expected for effective collaboration across the stack.

What You'll Do

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services primarily in Go.
- Own system architecture decisions — service boundaries, API design, data flow, and integration patterns — for new and existing systems.
- Build and evolve microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, and event-driven components with a focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs.
- Contribute to and, where needed, support Node.js services, ensuring consistency across the backend ecosystem.
- Write clean, well-tested, well-documented code, and drive engineering best practices (code reviews, design reviews, testing standards).
- Design and manage infrastructure and deployments on AWS (e.g., EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, SQS/SNS, CloudWatch, IAM).
- Identify performance bottlenecks, scalability risks, and technical debt, and lead efforts to resolve them.
- Participate in architectural discussions, technical design docs, and mentor junior engineers on backend and system design best practices.
- Ensure systems are secure, observable, and resilient, with appropriate monitoring, logging, and alerting in place.

What We're Looking For

Must-Have





- 4-5 years of overall backend development experience, with strong, hands-on production experience in Go (Golang) — this is a core requirement.
- Solid understanding of software architecture and system design: microservices, distributed systems, API design (REST/gRPC), scalability, and fault tolerance.
- Working proficiency in JavaScript, sufficient to read, review, and occasionally contribute to frontend/backend integration code.
- Practical experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, ECS/EKS, SQS/SNS, IAM, CloudWatch) and deploying/maintaining production workloads in the cloud.
- Robust grasp of concurrency, performance optimization, and writing efficient, production-grade Go code.
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis).
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals: testing, version control (Git), code review practices, and documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound architectural trade-offs independently.

Good to Have

- Hands-on experience with Node.js — building or maintaining services, APIs, or tooling.
- Experience with message queues/streaming platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS Kinesis).
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK).
- Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading small technical initiatives.
- Familiarity with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK stack, Datadog).
- Experience working in an agile/scrum environment.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
