Project Engineer – Machinery Commissioning (HVAC Systems)

Job Type - Full-time, Location - Chennai

We are seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer – Machinery Commissioning (HVAC Systems) to join our marine and shipbuilding team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, supervising, testing, commissioning, and handing over shipboard HVAC systems, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with client and classification society requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and execute HVAC commissioning activities for new building and retrofit projects.
- Coordinate installation, testing, and commissioning of chillers, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation systems, pumps, and refrigeration equipment.
- Supervise chilled water, condenser water, refrigerant, drain, and ventilation piping installations.
- Review engineering drawings, P&IDs;, technical specifications, and commissioning procedures.
- Coordinate with piping, electrical, instrumentation, insulation, and automation teams.
- Perform pre-commissioning inspections, equipment start-up, functional testing, and performance verification.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and HVAC system issues during commissioning.
- Coordinate with clients, OEMs, shipyard representatives, and classification surveyors.
- Prepare commissioning reports, inspection records, punch lists, and handover documentation.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, quality standards, and project schedules.
- Lead site engineers, supervisors, technicians, and subcontractors to achieve project milestones.

RequirementsEducation





- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

- 3–8 years of experience in HVAC commissioning, marine engineering, shipbuilding, offshore, or industrial projects.
- Experience in shipboard HVAC systems and marine piping will be an added advantage.

- Familiarity with Class Society requirements (ABS, DNV, LR, BV, IRS, etc.).
- Willingness to travel and work onboard vessels when required.
