We are looking for an STK Air Application Engineer with 1–2 years of hands-on experience in Ansys STK, particularly STK Air capabilities, to support customer projects involving aircraft, UAVs, missiles, air vehicles, sensors, and defence mission analysis.
The candidate will work closely with the customer technical team to build and analyse air-vehicle scenarios, perform trajectory and mission analysis, evaluate sensor/communication coverage, and provide technical support and handholding.
Key Responsibilities
- - Develop and configure STK Air scenarios based on customer requirements.
- Model and analyse aircraft, UAVs, missiles, and other air vehicles in STK.
- Create and analyse flight trajectories and mission profiles.
- Perform aircraft/air-vehicle visibility, access, range, and coverage analysis.
- Model sensors, facilities, targets, and other mission assets.
- Perform sensor field-of-view and line-of-sight analysis.
- Analyse air-vehicle missions considering altitude, velocity, heading, waypoints, and flight paths.
- Support air-to-air and air-to-ground mission analysis.
- Perform communication/link analysis between airborne and ground assets where required.
- Support mission planning and operational scenario development.
- Generate 2D/3D visualizations and simulation results for customer demonstrations.
- Prepare technical reports, plots, presentations, and analysis documentation.
- Troubleshoot STK scenarios and provide first-level technical support.
- Work with the customer to understand requirements and convert them into STK simulation models.
- Coordinate with the internal technical team for advanced technical issues.
Required Technical Skills
- - 1–2 years of hands-on experience with Ansys STK.
- Working knowledge of STK Air / air-vehicle modelling.
- Understanding of:
- Aircraft and UAV modelling
- Flight trajectories
- Waypoint-based flight paths
- Aircraft altitude, speed, heading, and manoeuvres
- Sensor modelling
- Field of View (FOV)
- Access and visibility analysis
- Line-of-sight analysis
- Range and coverage analysis
- Air-to-air and air-to-ground scenarios
- Basic understanding of aerospace and defence mission analysis.
- Exposure to STK automation / STK Connect / scripting is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Python or MATLAB is desirable.
Customer Deployment Responsibilities
As this is a customer-facing deployment, the candidate should be capable of:
- - Working independently at the customer location.
- Understanding customer requirements and developing appropriate STK scenarios.
- Supporting customer engineers in STK Air modelling and analysis.
- Conducting technical demonstrations and basic application training.
- Troubleshooting simulation and modelling issues.
- Preparing technical documentation and analysis reports.
- Coordinating with the internal Ansys/technical team when required.
Qualification
B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with exposure to any of the following will be preferred:
- - Aircraft/UAV simulation
- Mission analysis
- Flight trajectory analysis
- Aerospace and defence applications
- Radar/sensor analysis
- Air-defence systems
- Air-to-air / air-to-ground engagement scenarios
- STK-based aerospace studies

- Willingness to learn advanced STK capabilities and defence applications.
Note: For this 1–2 year profile, I would keep STK Air hands-on experience as the primary requirement, while treating advanced scripting, engagement modelling, and other STK modules as desirable rather than mandatory.
