Role Summary

Job Description – Lead - Payroll

The Payroll Lead is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate salary processing, statutory compliance, payroll accounting, and continuous process improvements. The role collaborates with HR, Finance, Tax, and external payroll vendors, and ensures compliance with applicable labor laws and tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Operations

Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing for all employee categories.
Ensure timely and accurate salary disbursement.
Validate payroll inputs including recent hires, exits, promotions, transfers, salary revisions, bonuses, incentives, and reimbursements.
Review payroll outputs and resolve discrepancies before payroll sign-off.
Oversee final settlement (F&F;) processing for exiting employees.

Compliance & Statutory Requirements

Ensure compliance with Income Tax, PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund,



and other applicable statutory requirements.
Ensure timely filing of statutory returns and remittances.
Coordinate with auditors and statutory authorities during audits and assessments.
Monitor changes in labor laws and payroll regulations and implement necessary process updates.

Payroll Controls & Governance

Establish and maintain payroll controls to ensure data accuracy and confidentiality.
Perform payroll reconciliations with HRIS, Finance, and bank payment files.
Review payroll journals, accruals, and provisioning.
Ensure payroll documentation, SOPs, and process controls are up to date.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

Manage payroll service providers and ensure adherence to agreed service levels.
Act as the primary point of contact for HR, Finance, Tax, Treasury, and business leaders on payroll matters.
Coordinate with banks for salary processing and payment-related activities.

Reporting & Analytics

Prepare payroll MIS reports,
