About the Project:
We are building an automated vision inspection system for detecting defects, fitments, backlighting/surface inspection.
We are looking for an experienced Machine Vision Systems Consultant / Optical Engineer to evaluate our application requirements and provide definitive hardware recommendations (cameras, optics, and lighting topology).
Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities:
Lighting Topology & Selection: Determine the optimal illumination strategy (e.g., Flat Backlight vs. Diffuse Dome Light vs. Ring Light) based on cap geometry, material finish, and target defects.
Camera & Optics Specs: Specify exact industrial camera models (resolution, sensor type, frame rates/shutter type) and optical lenses (focal length, telecentricity, aperture, working distance).
Hardware Integration Architecture: Recommend trigger sensors, lighting controllers, mountings,
and edge/IPC system hardware suitable for production line integration.
Vendor & Bill of Materials (BOM) Recommendation: Deliver a finalized hardware BOM with trusted vendors (e.g., Basler, Cognex, Keyence, CCS, Opto Engineering, Edmund Optics, etc.).
Requirements:
Proven track record designing and deploying industrial machine vision setups on production/conveyor lines.
Deep knowledge of optical geometry, industrial LED lighting techniques (backlighting, dome, darkfield, telecentric), and camera sensor physics (global vs. rolling shutter, sensor sizing).
Experience with cap inspection, packaging automation, or high-speed manufacturing lines is a robust plus.
Familiarity with vision software integration (OpenCV, HALCON, or proprietary industrial platforms) is helpful.
