JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Medical Coder I

Eligibility Criteria:

Any life science or paramedical graduate
Minimum 60% throughout academics
Certification from AAPC (CRC, CPC, COC) or AHIMA (CCS) would be an added advantage.

Job Responsibilities:

Review patient medical records and code/validate the ICD-10 CM codes based on official coding guidelines, coding clinics, client specific coding guidelines, CMS and other regulatory compliance guidelines and mandates.
Coders perform abstraction for the following projects including but not limited to Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid.
Maintain minimum quality standards of 95% accuracy or higher.
Maintain productivity standards based on project requirements.
Must comply with HIPAA compliance and maintain highest level of confidentiality.
Ability to read and understand medical record documentation for diagnosis extraction
Must be able to identify trends in coding and documentation errors

Skills and Knowledge Requirements:





Should be good in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminologies.
Should have good knowledge of ICD-10 CM conventions, general and chapter-specific coding guidelines, and coding clinic updates.
Good communication and analytical skills.
Good team player with a good attitude.
Should be adaptable and open to working rotational shifts whenever required.
Should maintain positive working relationships with others.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Self-motivated and driven to achieve results
Attention to detail
Proficient computer skills
Should have basic or intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
