Designation Deputy General Manager / General Manager – Production Function / Department Manufacturing Operations – Production Location MEPZ-SEZ, Tambaram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India Grade Level DGM / GM (Senior Leadership Band) Experience Required 18 – 22 years, with mandatory aerospace manufacturing industry experience Qualification B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering (essential); ROLE OBJECTIVE The Deputy General Manager / General Manager – Production will lead and be accountable for the total production operations of PMI Engineering Exports across its three manufacturing units at MEPZ-SEZ, Chennai. The role carries full ownership of on-time delivery, quality, cost, safety, and productivity in an AS9100 Rev D–certified, 100% export-oriented aerospace precision-manufacturing setting. The incumbent will translate the organisation's operating plan into disciplined shop-floor execution, drive a culture of continuous improvement, and represent Production at the executive and PennAero Group level. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Production & Operations Management Operational Ownership: Own end-to-end production operations across all three manufacturing units (PMIE, PMIG-1, PMIG-2), ensuring on-time delivery, output targets, and yield performance against the master production schedule. Production Planning: Drive daily, weekly, and monthly production planning in coordination with PPC, translating customer order books and export commitments into achievable line-level plans. Process Leadership: Direct precision machining, gear manufacturing (hobbing, shaping, grinding), heat-treatment, and assembly operations to meet aerospace tolerance and surface-integrity requirements. Throughput & OEE: Optimise capacity utilisation, cycle times, and equipment effectiveness (OEE) across CNC, turning cells, and gear-manufacturing lines, resolving bottlenecks proactively. Quality, AS9100 & Aerospace Standards AS9100 Compliance:



Ensure full compliance with AS9100 Rev D and customer-specific quality requirements, embedding first-time-right and zero-escape discipline on the shop floor. Quality Governance: Partner with Quality to close NCRs, drive root-cause / corrective action (8D, CAPA), and sustain audit-readiness for customer, regulatory, and certification audits. Traceability & FAI: Uphold configuration control, traceability, FAI (first article inspection), and special-process controls consistent with aerospace standards. Compliance, Export-Control & Safety Export-Control & SEZ: Maintain awareness of and adherence to ITAR / EAR export-control obligations, MEPZ-SEZ / EOU customs procedures, and controlled-technology handling requirements. Safety & Statutory: Enforce EHS standards, machine-safety protocols, and statutory factory compliance across all production areas. Continuous Improvement & Cost Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and TPM initiatives to reduce waste, scrap, and rework while improving cost per unit and delivery reliability. Modernisation: Champion automation, digitisation, and shop-floor data initiatives to strengthen real-time production visibility and decision-making. Cost & Productivity: Drive cost-control, budget adherence, and productivity improvement targets aligned to the annual operating plan. People Leadership & Collaboration Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing production organisation; drive skill development, multi-skilling, and succession within the shop-floor talent pipeline.



Performance Culture: Set and cascade KRAs / KPIs, manage performance, and foster a culture of accountability, discipline, and engagement across shifts. Cross-Functional: Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, SCM, Maintenance, and HR to deliver integrated operational outcomes. Reporting & Governance MIS & Reporting: Provide accurate, board-ready production MIS, dashboards, and performance reviews to the Executive Director and CEO. Group Interface: Represent Production in operational reviews with PennAero Group leadership and support group-level reporting requirements. QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering is essential. Experience: 18 – 22 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, with leadership responsibility for production at DGM / GM level. Aerospace (Must-Have): Mandatory hands-on experience within the aerospace manufacturing industry — precision machining, gear / precision components, or aerospace fasteners — in an AS9100-certified environment. 8 years of experience in Production Planning. 8 years of experience in Aerospace Manufacturing. 8 years of experience contributing to organisational Strategy. KEY COMPETENCIES & ATTRIBUTES Deep expertise in aerospace precision manufacturing, gear / precision-component production, and AS9100-governed operations. Strong command of production planning, capacity management, and shop-floor execution in a high-mix, export-oriented environment. Excellent leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and people-development capability across large blue-collar teams. Sound working knowledge of ITAR / EAR export-control frameworks and SEZ / EOU regulatory compliance. Strong analytical, decision-making, and executive communication skills, with the ability to represent Production at Group level.
