Mechanical Design Engineer - Short Term Consultant Opportunity

Scope of Assignment

The Assignment comprises 2 distinctly different but closely integrated product developments.

Product Development/component fabrication is occurring at a small workshop in Coimbatore.

Location of Assignment: Part time remote (20-30%), Balance of time at fabrication location, Coimbatore.

Responsibilities

Task 1: PRODUCT #1
- Review the design details (Solid Works) of an already built prototype with the specific immediate term objective of building and testing a next generation production model within 40 Calander days.
- Provide technical oversite to the fabrication and assembly process to occur in Coimbatore.
- Update design drawings and jigs and fixtures to be aligned with production model design.

Task 2: PRODUCT #2
- Using an identical modular design approach, and common components to Task 1, redesign/develop a mechanical mechanism for quick ground mounted modular assemblies (the basic framework to be identical to those in Task 1).

Timelines

Week 1: -6




- Validate new Prototype structural and operational mobility as well as transportation locking mechanisms.
- Review its component design and streamline/simplify for production model.
- Oversee fabrication of PRODUCT #1 production model.

Week 4: -20
- Redesign/Develop stable rapidly extendable/retractable ground mount concept for foldout sub frame sets.
- Develop recent foldout sub frame set rollout arrangement.
- Test and validate design for PRODUCT #2 for production.

Consultant Profile

Msc/MTech or Phd in Mechanical Engineering (Discipline: Machine Design, mechanical design engineering of equivalent).

Scope of Studies: Design of machines, CAD, mechanisms, failure analysis, product development, design optimization.

10+ years in industry as practicing machine Design, mechanical design engineer.

Solid practical experience in machine shop practices, plate shop fabrications etc.

Relevant machine design software advanced skills.
