1. Fabric Sourcing * Source fabrics based on buyer requirements, garment specifications and seasonal trends. * Identify suitable fabric mills, manufacturers, traders and processors. * Develop new fabric suppliers across India and overseas where required. * Maintain an updated database of fabric suppliers and their capabilities. * Source fabrics for: * Men’s shirts * Women’s shirts and tops * Dresses * Trousers and bottoms * Jackets / shackets * Technical garments * Sportswear * Speciality and fashion fabrics * Source both stock-supported fabrics and made-to-order developments. 2. Fabric Development Work closely with the merchandising and design teams to develop fabrics according to buyer specifications, including: * Fibre composition * Yarn count * Fabric construction * GSM * Width * Weave / structure * Dyeing * Printing * Yarn-dyed fabrics * Finishing * Stretch / mechanical stretch * Hand feel * Shrinkage * Colour fastness * Special finishes Coordinate with mills to develop lab dips, strike-offs, handlooms, swatches and sample yardage. 3.
Costing & Negotiation * Obtain competitive fabric quotations from multiple suppliers. * Negotiate fabric prices, MOQ, payment terms, development charges and delivery schedules. * Compare supplier quotations and identify the most commercially viable option. * Support the merchandising team with accurate fabric costing. * Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality. * Maintain historical fabric prices for future negotiations. 4. Supplier Management * Identify and evaluate new fabric suppliers. * Maintain solid relationships with existing mills. * Regularly evaluate suppliers on: * Price * Quality * Development capability * MOQ * Lead time * Delivery performance * Service * Payment terms * Maintain an approved supplier list. * Escalate recurring supplier issues to management. 5. Sampling & Development Follow-up Ensure timely submission and approval of: * Fabric swa
