We are looking for a skilled VMware Administrator (L2) to manage, maintain, and optimize the virtualization environment. The ideal candidate will take a proactive approach to ensure the security, performance, and reliability of the virtual infrastructure. You will provide L2 technical support and troubleshooting for VMware infrastructure — including ESXi, vCenter, virtual machines, Veeam/Commvault Backup, HCI, and SAN/NAS Storage.
Key Responsibilities
Virtualization Infrastructure
- Provide L2 technical support for VMware infrastructure, including troubleshooting and resolving issues
- Monitor and respond to alerts and notifications from VMware monitoring tools
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as patching and upgrading VMware software
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtual machine performance, networking, and storage
- Collaborate with L1 resources to resolve issues and escalate complex problems to L3 as needed
- Document knowledge and procedures in a knowledge management system
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide 24/7 support
- Manage vendor relationships for logged support cases
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree (B.Tech) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent work experience.
Certifications
Mandatory:
VMware Professional Level Certification (VCP or VCAP preferred)
Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with VMware infrastructure (ESXi, vCenter, vSphere)
- Strong understanding of VMware architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Experience with VMware troubleshooting tools such as ESXi logs and vCenter performance charts
- Strong knowledge of Veeam Backup and Replication technologies
- Experience with SAN/NAS Storage infrastructure configuration
- Strong understanding of HCI technology
- Experience with Cisco Intersight and UCS Manager
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving ability and capacity to work under pressure
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Nice to Have
- Experience with other virtualization platforms (e.g., Hyper-V, KVM)
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms
- Experience with IT service management frameworks
Work Environment
This is an in office role requiring availability for 24/7 rotational shifts. The engineer will also support planned activities — including Patching, Migration, and DR Drills — which may occur during night shifts.
