Role & responsibilities
- Perform surprise checks of gold packets in branch vaults to match system records with actual physical stock.
- Verify the accuracy of gold purity testing reports, weights, and current market valuations.
- Ensure adherence to RBI guidelines, specifically maintaining LTV ratios (typically capped at 75% ) and verifying KYC documentation.
- Check the functionality of branch security measures, including CCTV, burglary alarms, and dual-control access to vaults.
- Prepare detailed audit reports highlighting deviations and ensure the timely closure of audit observations by regional teams.
- Process Review: Evaluate the entire loan lifecyclefrom disbursement and documentation to renewals and auctionsto identify potential operational risks.
- Verify the issuance of mandatory Gold Purity Certificates that must detail gross weight, net weight, carats, and deductions for stones or alloys.
- Use data analytics to identify red flags such as gold substitution (replacing pledged gold with lower purity items), weight manipulation, or "ever greening" (renewing loans without actual repayment).
