Location: Jamnagar, India The Health Systems, Access and Data (HSD) division is focused on supporting the achievement of universal health coverage (UHC) goals and health Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and Fourteenth General Programme of Work (GPW14) targets, through equitable and resilient health systems that benefit everyone, everywhere. It provides and enables health systems leadership, global public goods, and differentiated country support that are quality-assured, innovative, and sustainable, in service of all Member States.

The objective of the Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (TMC) is to lead WHO's efforts to integrate traditional medicine into global health systems, ensuring protected, effective, and equitable access to traditional medicine practices with focusing on research and evidence, strengthening health systems, sustainability and equity, and innovation and technology. The immediate strategic objective is to establish a robust evidence base, support regulatory mechanisms, and foster cross-sector collaboration to optimize the contribution of traditional medicine to global health and sustainable development. This holistic, integrated approach supports Member States in harnessing the potential of traditional medicines for health, wellness, and people-centered health care, promoting safe and effective use, scientific advances, and protection of biodiversity and local resources.

Description of Duties

- Develop and regularly update the monitoring and evaluation framework on the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Strategy,



including World Health Assembly mandated reporting on the Global Strategy, developed in close collaboration with other TMC units and relevant WHO HQ Departments, Regional and Country Offices.
- Liaise with the TMC Traditional Medicine Research, Data and Innovation (TRI) unit to support clinical research and implementation studies that support to develop evidence-based norms and standards for quality-assured and effective TCIM interventions.
- Develop high-impact WHO norms and guidelines prioritized in the TMC workplan, including TCIM clinical practice guidelines and evidence-based interventions for UHC-related costed packages of care.
- Develop the TCIM care-quality related norms and standards for regulation.
- Support Member States in planning, governing, and promoting evidence-based TCIM integration into national and sub-national health systems, aligned with WHA resolutions and the WHO global traditional medicine strategy.
- Provide TSI-related technical support and coordination on norms and standards to Member States, partners and stakeholders for the implementation of the WHO global traditional medicine strategy.
- Perform any other duties as requested.

Required Qualifications Education Essential :



An advanced university degree (Masters level or above) in traditional, complementary or integrative medicine.

Desirable : A PhD in traditional complementary or integrative medicine.

Experience

- Essential : At least 7 years of experience in the field of traditional, complementary, and integrative medicine (TCIM) programmes, including experience in TCIM normative and clinical practice and collaboration with national agencies in this field. Demonstrated experience in developing WHO global strategies or action plans for TCIM in support of Member States and partner implementation.
- Desirable : Experience working with WHO and/or UN or international agencies. Experience working in developing countries. Experience in resource mobilization specifically related to TCIM initiatives.

Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of the areas related to traditional, complementary and integrative medicine and its integration within national or local health systems. Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
