About the Role:

We are looking for a Technical Lead – Backend Engineering to take end-to-end technical and architectural ownership of the MPS core backend platform.

You will be responsible for designing and evolving a robust, scalable and maintainable backend architecture capable of supporting multiple machine types, manufacturing environments and customer plants.

This is a hands-on technical role. You will continue to contribute to architecture and development while establishing engineering standards, mentoring the team and driving technical excellence.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in an industrial/on-premise setting, where reliability, performance and the ability to troubleshoot production systems are critical.

Responsibilities:

- Architecture and evolution of the Spring Boot core backend and its REST surface.
- Introducing and owning database migration discipline across development, staging and plant environments; replacing schema auto-generation with versioned, reviewed migrations.
- Designing the domain abstraction that lets MPS be configured for new machine types and new industries without forking the codebase.




- Data modelling and query performance for high-volume machine event and inspection tables.
- The ingestion contract between machine connectors publishing to RabbitMQ and the backend consuming from it: durability, ordering, idempotency and replay.
- Externalising configuration so that no environment-specific host, port or credential lives in application code.
- Code review, engineering standards, branching strategy and release discipline for the team.
- Technical mentorship -- raising the level of every engineer around you, including how they review and trust AI-generated code.

Qualifications & Experience:

- B.Tech / B.E. / M.Tech / M.E. in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience building and supporting backend systems in production.
- Prior experience working at a Senior Engineer / Technical Lead level is preferred.
- Robust experience owning technical decisions and mentoring engineers.
- Experience working with systems deployed in on-premise/customer environments will be highly valuable.

- Java 17+ & Spring Boot 3.x – REST APIs, security, transactions & configuration
- PostgreSQL – Database design, SQL, indexing & query optimisation
- RabbitMQ/Kafka – Messaging, idempotency, retries & failure handling
- Flyway/Liquibase – Database migration & version control
- On-Premise Deployments – Production support, troubleshooting & RCA
- Engineering Practices – Git, code reviews, testing & CI/CD
