Lam Research is a leading global manufacturer of capital equipment used in making leading-edge-semiconductors across the world. We primarily compete in four specific areas – deposition, etch, photoresist strip, and single wafer clean.

Many years back, Lam Research embarked on a journey to set up engineering center in Bangalore to expand its reach to Indian talent pool. Over the decade, this center expanded its capability and scope beyond engineering to global manufacturing, supply chain operations and other shared services. One of the major functional groups of this entity is LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Technology).

LIGHT has completed more than a decade of growth and has emerged as a major new product development and sustaining engineering team for Lam’s global engineering footprint.

Engineering Information Systems is a centralized team and part of LIGHT. The charter of the group is to enable design teams across various Product Groups with CAD &

- PDM Systems. This is a position at LIGHT EIS team in Bangalore, joining a team of experienced engineers enabling engineering to deliver products through effective utilization of systems.

What You’ll Do

Team Leadership &

- Capability Development

- Lead and manage CAD, PDM administrators, support engineers, and vendor resources to ensure effective service delivery.
- Build and strengthen technical, automation, and digital engineering capabilities within the team through coaching, mentoring, and skill development programs.
- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Drive employee engagement, career growth, succession planning, and overall team development.

CAD/PDM Platform Ownership

- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of CAD systems, including deployment, upgrades, maintenance, enhancements, and ongoing support.
- Ensure platform reliability, system availability, data integrity, security, and compliance with established service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Establish and govern CAD standards, engineering workflows, configuration management practices, and engineering data management processes.
- Lead multi-tier support operations (L1, L2 and L3 support), ensuring timely issue resolution and operational excellence.
- Continuously improve support processes, monitoring capabilities, and operational efficiency.

Process Excellence &

- Digital Transformation

- Drive PLM/PDM process standardization and lifecycle workflow optimization to improve engineering productivity and data quality.
- Lead initiatives that enable digital engineering, automation, and process transformation across the product development lifecycle.
- Identify and implement opportunities to enhance efficiency, scalability, and business value through technology and automation.

Program &

- Stakeholder Management

- Manage cross-functional programs and initiatives involving Engineering, IT, Product Development, Manufacturing,



and external partners.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align priorities, resolve issues, manage dependencies, and ensure successful program execution.
- Provide regular updates, metrics, and strategic recommendations to leadership teams.

Financial Planning &

- Budget Management

- Own annual operating plans, quarterly forecasts, and budget management for CAD platforms, and associated programs.
- Develop budget strategies that align technology investments with business priorities and organizational objectives.

Resource &

- Vendor Management

- Optimize the resource mix across full-time employees, contractors, and vendor partners to maximize performance, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
- Manage vendor relationships, Statements of Work (SOWs), contract negotiations, service delivery, and financial performance.
- Ensure external resources deliver measurable value while meeting quality and service expectations.

Cost Optimization &

- Governance

- Drive optimization of CAD, and related software licensing, infrastructure, and tool utilization costs.
- Evaluate and prioritize projects based on business value, operational impact, and return on investment (ROI).
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements that reduce operating costs and improve productivity.

Who We’re Looking For

- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech.) in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, Aerospace, Automotive, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 14–16 years of progressive experience in CAD, PLM/PDM, Engineering Systems, Product Development, Digital Engineering, or Engineering Automation, preferably within semiconductor capital equipment, industrial machinery, aerospace, automotive, or other complex engineering environments.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum 3+ years of first-line people management experience leading technical teams, with demonstrated success in team development, stakeholder management and operational excellence

- Teamcenter administration and governance within a global, multi-site engineering environment, with hands-on experience leading teams of CAD and PDM administrators.
- People, Vendor &
- Workforce Management: Proven experience managing direct reports, contingent workforce teams (>20 resources), and vendor partners, with a strong track record of driving accountability, performance, capability development,



and operational excellence.
- PLM/PDM Process &
- Operational Excellence: Deep expertise in defining, standardizing, and continuously improving CAD/PDM processes, engineering data management, and lifecycle workflows, coupled with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities in complex and ambiguous environments.
- Leadership &
- Team Development: Demonstrated success in situational leadership, performance management, talent development, and fostering a culture of engagement, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Desirable Skills
- Program Management: Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and deliver business-critical programs on schedule, within scope, and with high quality.
- Financial &
- Resource Management: Exposure to budget planning, resource optimization, licensing strategy, vendor management, and cost-effective delivery of engineering systems and services.
- Stakeholder &
- Collaboration Management: Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across Engineering, IT, Manufacturing, and external partners to achieve business objectives.
- Continuous Improvement &
- Digital Transformation: Experience driving process optimization, operational efficiency, automation, and digital engineering initiatives while promoting best practices and engineering standards.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories –

- On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
