Role Overview
As our Procurement & Supply Chain Manager, you own the entire sourcing and supply-chain function as a system: finding and qualifying suppliers, running RFQs, presenting costed options, negotiating, owning the bill of materials, and managing import, logistics, and assembly coordination. You turn engineering designs into parts on a bench, and eventually into a manufactured product at volume. You coordinate the specialist contractors we engage as needed — a China-based sourcing agent, a customs consultant, and a regulatory consultant — but you own the function.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Strategic sourcing: identify, evaluate, and qualify component and module suppliers (electronics modules, displays, compute boards, cellular modules, sensors, batteries, enclosures) across China and India, and present the team clear, costed options
- Run RFQs and negotiation — drive component costs down, especially at volume; manage the path from sample to bulk
- Manage ODM/OEM relationships, including custom-build orders (custom-specced boards, locked firmware images, bulk volume commitments)
- Own the bill of materials — keep it live, costed, and version-controlled
- Own import, logistics, and customs coordination — landed cost, duties, lead times, and the China-to-India supply pipeline
- Coordinate assembly and vendors — PCBA,
sheet-metal/moulding fabricators, and the assembly process
- Build supply resilience — second sources for critical long-lead parts, lead-time management, and no single points of failure
- Coordinate the specialist contractors (China sourcing agent, customs consultant, regulatory consultant); you direct them, you don’t have to be all of them
Requirements
- 5+ years in procurement / sourcing / supply chain, specifically in electronics or hardware manufacturing (not FMCG, retail, or general procurement)
- Demonstrated track record sourcing components and modules from Chinese suppliers (Alibaba/Made-in-China, direct factory relationships) and Indian vendors
- Solid on RFQs, supplier negotiation, total-cost-of-ownership analysis, and BOM management
- Working knowledge of import / logistics / customs for electronics into India (HSN classification, duties, lead times)
- An operator mindset — you find options, present trade-offs, and own outcomes end to end
Good to Have
- Experience with ODM/OEM custom-build deals and volume commitments
- Medical-device component sourcing, and awareness of the regulatory and quality bar that brings
- Supplier-risk management; CPSM or equivalent certification
- An existing supplier network in electronics / hardware
