ROLE PURPOSE The Sourcing Engineer at BluLabs will be responsible for identifying, developing, qualifying, and managing reliable suppliers for Brass Fittings, Metal Tools, Metal Stampings, Plastic Injection-Moulded Parts, and related engineered components from India as well as China.
This role demands a robust technical foundation in component manufacturing processes combined with sharp commercial instincts — achieving the right balance of quality, cost, delivery, and supplier performance. The Sourcing Engineer will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Production to ensure timely availability of components for new product development and launches.
KEY INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supplier Sourcing & Development
- Identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers for brass fittings, metal tools, metal stampings, plastic injection-moulded parts, and other engineered components.
- Develop alternate and cost-effective suppliers to reduce single-source dependency and improve supply continuity.
- Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities, capacity, quality systems, tooling infrastructure, and process controls before onboarding.
- Maintain an updated and structured approved supplier list — with sourcing database, development status, and supplier performance records.
- Drive localisation initiatives to build a strong, cost-competitive domestic supply base.
2. RFQ,
Costing & Commercial Negotiations
- Prepare and float RFQs to suppliers; obtain quotations and conduct structured technical and commercial comparisons.
- Negotiate component prices, tooling costs, MOQ, payment terms, lead times, freight, and all other commercial conditions.
- Conduct should-cost and cost-breakup analysis to benchmark supplier pricing and identify negotiation levers.
- Maintain cost sheets, quotation records, tooling registers, and commercial closure documentation.
- Drive VA/VE (Value Analysis / Value Engineering) and cost-reduction initiatives through material changes, process optimisation, and supplier consolidation.
3. Sample Development & Qualification
- Coordinate prototype and sample development, tooling trials, first-off samples, and PPAP / FAI or equivalent approval processes.
- Work closely with Engineering and Quality teams during supplier selection, sample development, and formal qualification.
- Interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, materials, and tolerances to accurately assess supplier capability and sample quality.
- Ensure timely commercial closure and availability of qualified components for new product development programmes and product launches.
4. Supplier Performance & Relationship Management
- Monitor and review supplier performance on quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness on an ongoing basis.
- Coordinate with Quality and Production teams to address supplier quality issues, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers — ensuring long-term reliability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all sourcing activities comply with RMX's procurement processes, approval frameworks, and documentation standards.
