About the Role
Applix is looking for an experienced Senior Windows Server Administrator to join our team full-time and work on-site at a client location in Bangalore, five days per week.
This is a hands-on L3 infrastructure role supporting enterprise-grade Windows environments across global operations. You will be responsible for Windows Server administration, Active Directory, virtualization, high availability, infrastructure troubleshooting, data center operations, and automation.
The ideal candidate has operated large production environments and is comfortable troubleshooting issues across the operating system, virtualization, storage, networking, and physical infrastructure layers.
What You'll Do
Windows Server & Infrastructure
- Administer and support Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 and later across distributed enterprise environments.
- Manage Windows Server roles, features, system services, and file/print services.
- Perform server provisioning, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management across physical and virtual infrastructure.
- Manage RDP and remote server administration.
Active Directory & Identity
- Administer Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS).
- Manage users, groups, Organizational Units (OUs), and delegation models.
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
- Manage NTFS and share permissions and maintain appropriate access controls.
Core Infrastructure Services
- Manage and troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, NTP, and Certificate Services.
- Troubleshoot Windows services, registry configurations, scheduled tasks, and local security policies.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting using Event Viewer, system logs, and diagnostic tools.
Virtualization & Data Center Operations
- Administer VMware and enterprise virtualization environments.
- Provision, clone, configure, and manage virtual machines.
- Support physical server provisioning and operating system deployment.
- Work with server management platforms such as HPE iLO, Dell iDRAC, and Lenovo XClarity.
- Support BIOS/firmware updates, RAID/storage controllers, NIC teaming, and hardware-level troubleshooting.
- Understand rack/stack operations and enterprise data center practices.
High Availability & Performance
- Implement and manage Windows Failover Clustering.
- Troubleshoot CPU, memory, disk, storage, and network performance bottlenecks.
- Perform system performance tuning and capacity optimization.
- Diagnose complex infrastructure incidents and perform root cause analysis.
Backup, Disaster Recovery & Operations
- Support enterprise backup and recovery solutions.
- Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) planning, testing, and execution.
- Work within enterprise security, audit, and compliance requirements.
- Support incident, problem, and change management processes.
Monitoring & Automation
- Work with infrastructure monitoring platforms such as SCOM, Zabbix, SolarWinds, or equivalent tools.
- Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and operational response.
- Automate infrastructure administration using PowerShell.
- Identify opportunities to reduce repetitive manual administration through automation.
Cloud & Modernization
- Support cloud-readiness and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
- Work with hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Exposure to Microsoft Azure infrastructure and migration initiatives is highly desirable.
What We're Looking For
- 8–12+ years of relevant Windows infrastructure experience.
- Solid hands-on experience with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022.
- Deep understanding of Active Directory, GPO, DNS, and DHCP.
- Production experience administering VMware or comparable virtualization platforms.
- Experience with Windows Failover Clustering and high-availability environments.
- Strong infrastructure troubleshooting across operating systems, networking, storage, and hardware.
- Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring and operational support.
- Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Understanding of enterprise data center operations and networking fundamentals.
- Experience working with global teams and L3 production support environments.
- Ability to participate in after-hours maintenance, weekend activities, and on-call rotations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Windows Server and/or Azure certifications.
- VMware certification.
- ITIL Foundation certification.
- Azure infrastructure or hybrid-cloud experience.
- Advanced PowerShell automation experience.
- Experience supporting large enterprise, shared-services, or GCC environments.
Work Conditions
This is a full-time Applix position deployed at a client site in Bangalore.
Candidates must be willing and able to:
- Work on-site at the client location five days per week.
- Participate in after-hours maintenance when required.
- Support occasional weekend activities.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Collaborate with global teams across multiple time zones.
