Key Responsibilities

Technical Architecture &

- Ownership

- Own the technical scope and architecture for the complete migration engagement.
- Lead technical activities from initial assessment through production cutover.
- Define target-state AWS architecture and migration strategy.
- Develop phased migration and cutover approaches.
- Drive major technical decisions across networking, security, edge delivery, and bot management.

AWS Architecture
- Design and govern multi-account AWS environments.
- Establish IAM, least-privilege access, security baselines, tagging, and governance.
- Ensure adherence to AWS Well-Architected Framework principles.




- Architect solutions using CloudFront, WAF, Shield, GuardDuty, Lambda@Edge, Route 53, ALB, S3, ACM, Athena, and QuickSight.

Akamai-to-AWS Migration
- Assess existing Akamai properties and define AWS target architecture.
- Analyze and map Akamai:
- Property Manager
- Kona Site Defender
- Bot Manager Premium
- EdgeWorkers / EdgeKV
- GTM

- Define equivalent or improved AWS implementations.
- Lead migration baselining, technical validation, and production cutover.

AWS WAF &
- Bot Management

- Architect AWS WAF managed and custom security rules.
- Design rate-based rules, IP sets, bot-management controls, and origin protection.
- Define security strategies for application and API traffic.
- Architect solutions for bot detection, behavioral risk, account protection, and adaptive challenges.

Custom Edge Solutions
- Design custom solutions where there is no direct AWS equivalent for an existing Akamai capability.
- Architect edge-computing solutions using CloudFront Functions and Lambda@Edge.
- Provide technical direction for Node.js-based edge solutions.

Networking &
- Security

- Provide architecture leadership for VPC, routing, DNS, Route 53, TLS/mTLS, ACM, CIDR, and edge-to-origin connectivity.
- Ensure security, resiliency, scalability, and performance requirements are met.

Observability &
- Dashboards

- Define the overall observability strategy.
- Design CloudWatch, QuickSight, S3 access logging, and Athena-based monitoring solutions.
- Define dashboards covering traffic, caching, origin latency, WAF activity,



bot activity, and failover.

Technical Governance
- Lead and mentor DevOps and specialist engineering teams.
- Review architecture and implementation deliverables.
- Resolve technical escalations and remove technical blockers.
- Ensure quality at each project phase gate.
- Maintain architecture decisions and technical decision registers.

Migration Runbooks
- Develop reusable migration runbooks and playbooks.
- Establish repeatable technical processes for customer adoption.
- Ensure knowledge transfer and technical documentation are completed.

Required Skills

- 12+ years of experience in Cloud / Infrastructure / Solution Architecture.
- Mandatory AWS Certified Solutions Architect Skilled certification.
- Extensive AWS architecture experience.
- Strong hands-on expertise with AWS CloudFront and AWS WAF.
- Strong knowledge of AWS Shield, GuardDuty, Lambda@Edge, CloudFront Functions, Route 53, ALB, S3, ACM, Athena, and QuickSight.
- Deep networking knowledge including DNS, routing, TLS/mTLS, CIDR, and origin connectivity.
- Strong security and bot-management expertise.
- Strong experience with Akamai technologies.
- Proven experience in Akamai-to-AWS CloudFront/WAF migration.
- Experience designing custom edge solutions using Node.js.
- Strong knowledge of Terraform and cloud automation.
- Experience leading technical teams and large-scale cloud migration programs.
