Senior Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build and evolve the AI assistant capability within Energy Components, and production data platform, and to strengthen the data validation and troubleshooting capabilities that surround it. The role spans backend service development, integration of large language model-based agents with enterprise data, and the design of automated data quality checks for production and allocation data. The overall objective is to deliver AI-assisted answers and data insights that users can trust and act on.

What You Will Do:

- Design, develop, and maintain Java and Quarkus microservices that expose Energy Components data and functionality to conversational AI agents, including the Model Context Protocol (MCP) tool layer
- Integrate AI assistant experiences end to end - browser widget, token brokering, agent platform, and the secured data path back into Energy Components
- Design, evaluate, and improve the instructions, tool definitions, and retrieval strategies that determine how accurately the assistant answers questions about live production data and product documentation
- Systematically test AI responses against real data, identify failure modes such as incorrect entity selection, unverifiable aggregates, or plausible-but-wrong answers, and drive measurable improvements
- Build data validation and quality-control capabilities - automated check rules, exception reporting, and .
- Investigate and resolve customer and internal data issues, tracing problems through logs, calculation results, configuration, and source data to root cause




- Build and consume RESTful APIs, and implement secure service-to-service and per-user authorization using OAuth2 / OIDC
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests, and document architecture, configuration, and operational procedures to support knowledge sharing
- Work closely with global cross-functional teams - product, domain consultants, and the AI platform team - to turn business problems into delivered capability
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy, taking ownership of features end to end, and mentor colleagues through code review and technical direction

What You Bring:

- 5–8 years of hands-on experience with Core Java and Java EE / Jakarta EE development
- Robust proficiency in Jakarta EE technologies including JPA, EJB, JAX-RS, and Jakarta EE containers (e.g. WildFly); experience with Quarkus or a comparable cloud-native Java framework
- Solid knowledge of RESTful service design and API development best practices
- Practical experience integrating large language models into applications - retrieval-augmented generation, tool or function calling, agent frameworks, or similar - including how to evaluate and improve response quality.
- Solid understanding of OAuth2 / OIDC and identity providers such as Keycloak,



including token validation, audience and scope handling, and per-user authorization
- Experience with JSF-based UI development (PrimeFaces preferred)
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills with Oracle databases, and the ability to investigate data problems directly against the database
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-layer issues and communicate root cause clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Understanding of data quality concepts - validation rules, reconciliation, exception handling - and of data modeling fundamentals
- Experience with unit and integration testing (JUnit), and familiarity with DevOps tooling (Docker, Jenkins) and Agile/Scrum delivery
- Working knowledge of TypeScript or JavaScript, sufficient to maintain a web component front end
- A rigorous, evidence-driven approach: comfortable questioning assumptions, verifying claims against real data, and reporting findings honestly

Nice to Have:

- Energy Components or Oil & Gas domain knowledge, particularly production accounting, allocation, or deferment
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Platform, or the Bot Framework, including application lifecycle management for those platforms
- Experience with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or comparable AI tool-integration standards
- Familiarity with Azure services such as Key Vault and AI Search, and with vector or semantic search approaches
- Experience designing and deploying machine learning models for predictive analytics or anomaly detection
