Auscomp is building an internal AI capability to improve how our teams work across sales, distribution, warehouse operations, ERP and business administration.

We are looking for a Senior AI Applications Engineer who can turn real business problems into secure, production-ready AI applications.

You will work alongside our React.js frontend developer and business stakeholders to design and build AI assistants, document-search systems, workflow automations and intelligent integrations. This is a hands-on engineering role with ownership from prototype through to production.

What you will do

- Design and build backend services for internal AI applications.
- Develop solutions using LLM APIs, structured outputs, function calling, agents and RAG.
- Connect AI applications to Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, ERP systems, databases and internal APIs.
- Build document-ingestion and permission-aware enterprise search pipelines.
- Implement automated evaluations for accuracy, retrieval quality, hallucinations and regressions.
- Deploy and operate AI services securely on Microsoft Azure.
- Implement authentication, RBAC, audit logging, secrets management and data-protection controls.
- Create monitoring for application quality, model usage, latency, errors and cost.
- Work directly with warehouse, operations, sales and management teams to understand and automate business processes.
- Collaborate with frontend, backend, infrastructure and security team members.

Essential experience
- Solid backend development experience with Python and FastAPI, or a comparable production backend framework.
- Experience building applications using Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic or similar LLM platforms.
- Practical experience with RAG, embeddings, vector search and document processing.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, SQL databases, asynchronous processing and system integration.
- Experience deploying cloud applications using Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of LLM limitations,



evaluation techniques and production reliability.
- Knowledge of application security, identity, access control and secure secrets management.
- Ability to work with non-technical stakeholders and convert business requirements into working systems.

Highly regarded
- Experience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Container Apps, Functions, Service Bus, Key Vault and Azure Monitor.
- Microsoft Graph, SharePoint, Teams or Entra ID integration experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or other ERP platforms.
- Familiarity with warehouse, distribution, logistics or inventory-management workflows.
- Experience with LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, LlamaIndex or similar orchestration frameworks.
- Knowledge of prompt-injection defence, AI security testing and data-governance controls.
- Experience with Node.js, PHP/Laravel, React.js or Next.js.
- Infrastructure-as-code experience using Terraform or Bicep.
