Summary
As a Security Managed Services Practitioner, a typical day involves overseeing and delivering comprehensive security services tailored to client environments. This role requires continuous monitoring and management to uphold protection standards, ensure compliance with relevant policies, and maintain operational resilience. The practitioner actively coordinates with various stakeholders to address emerging security challenges and adapts strategies to evolving threats, ensuring that client systems remain secure and reliable throughout daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Administration &
- Engineering
Lead the end-to-end administration of Proofpoint Email Protection (PPS), including policy management, spam/malware filtering, and threat intelligence configuration.
Design and maintain Proofpoint Targeted Attack Protection (TAP) including URL Defense and Attachment Defense (sandbox).
Manage Proofpoint Email Data Loss Prevention (eDLP) and Proofpoint Information and Cloud Security (PICS/Proofpoint CASB) configurations.
Administer Proofpoint Email Fraud Defense (EFD), DMARC, DKIM, and SPF policies to prevent Business Email Compromise (BEC).
Configure and manage Proofpoint Security Awareness Training (PSAT) — phishing simulations, training campaigns, and reporting.
Maintain Proofpoint Threat Response Auto-Pull (TRAP) for automated post-delivery message remediation.
Architecture &
- Strategy
Own the long-term roadmap for Proofpoint platforms aligned with business and security objectives.
Evaluate and onboard new Proofpoint modules and capabilities as the product suite evolves.
Architect mail routing, encryption gateways, and DLP workflows in hybrid (on-premise + cloud) environments.
Collaborate with the security architecture team on Zero Trust and SASE initiatives involving email security.
Incident Response &
- Threat Management
Act as Level 3 escalation point for email security incidents, threat investigations, and false positive/negative remediation.
Analyze and respond to advanced threats including phishing, spear-phishing, ransomware delivery, and email-based APT campaigns.
Use Proofpoint TAP dashboards and threat intelligence to identify attack campaigns and proactively adjust defenses.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for email security incidents and produce actionable post-incident reports.
Integration &
- Automation
Integrate Proofpoint with SIEM platforms (Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, QRadar) via syslog, API, or connectors.
Develop automation workflows using Proofpoint APIs and SOAR platforms (Palo Alto XSOAR, Splunk SOAR) to streamline threat response.
Integrate TRAP with ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira) for automated abuse mailbox workflows.
Manage Proofpoint's integration with Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online and Google Workspace environments.
Governance, Compliance &
- Reporting
Ensure email security controls align with regulatory frameworks including GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and ISO 27001.
Generate and present executive-level email security metrics, risk reports, and KPIs to leadership.
Maintain thorough documentation for all configurations, runbooks, SOPs, and change records.
Participate in internal/external audits and provide evidence of email security controls.
Mentorship &
- Collaboration
Mentor Level 1 and Level 2 engineers conduct knowledge transfer sessions and training.
Collaborate with SOC, IT, HR, Legal, and Compliance teams on cross-functional security initiatives.
Represent the email security team in change advisory board (CAB) meetings and security steering committees.
Preferred Qualifications
Proofpoint Certified Engineer (PCE) or Proofpoint Certified Administrator certification.
Additional certifications: CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft SC-200, or equivalent.
Experience with zero-trust email architectures and secure email gateways (SEG) in cloud-native environments.
Familiarity with competitive platforms (Mimecast, Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Cisco IronPort) for migration or coexistence scenarios.
Experience in regulated industries (Financial Services, Healthcare, Government).
Exposure to threat intelligence platforms (TIPs) and IOC enrichment workflows.
Additional Information
- The candidate should have minimum 5 years of experience in Email Security.
- This position is based at our Bengaluru office.
- A 15 years full time education is required.

On-call rotation may be required for critical email security incidents.
Occasional after-hours maintenance windows for upgrades and configuration changes.
Rotational shift is required by project
