Associate Manager – SEO | 2–4 Years
Role Overview
As an Associate Manager – SEO, you will be responsible for the end-to-end execution and growth of the brand’s organic search channel. You will own SEO initiatives internally and work closely with Content, Technology, Product, Marketing, Analytics, and other internal teams to improve organic visibility, rankings, traffic, leads, and business outcomes.
The role is highly hands-on and execution-focused, covering Technical SEO, On-Page SEO, Content SEO, Off-Page SEO, Local SEO, AEO, GEO, and emerging AI Search Optimization initiatives.
You will have complete ownership of the SEO roadmap, execution, monitoring, analysis, and performance, while coordinating with external agencies only for Google Business Profile and content-related activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. SEO Strategy & Execution
- Own and execute the brand’s SEO roadmap based on business priorities and organic growth opportunities.
- Develop and implement SEO strategies to improve organic rankings, traffic, leads, conversions, and overall business performance.
- Conduct keyword research, search intent analysis, competitor analysis, SERP analysis, and identify organic growth opportunities.
- Execute On-Page SEO activities including title tags, meta descriptions, headings, URL optimization, internal linking, image optimization, and content optimization.
- Monitor keyword rankings, organic traffic, landing-page performance, leads, and conversions.
- Identify reasons for ranking and traffic fluctuations and implement corrective actions.
- Prioritize SEO initiatives based on business impact and search opportunity.
- Maintain SEO roadmaps, trackers, implementation plans, and execution timelines.
2. Technical SEO & Website Optimization
- Conduct regular technical SEO audits and identify issues related to crawling, indexing, site architecture, redirects, canonicalization, broken links, and other technical factors.
- Work directly with developers, technology, and product teams to implement technical SEO recommendations.
- Implement and monitor schema markup, structured data, breadcrumbs, entity optimization, and internal linking.
- Monitor Core Web Vitals and overall website performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure SEO requirements are considered during new page creation, website launches, migrations, redesigns, and major website changes.
- Monitor website health and ensure technical SEO issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
3. Content SEO
- Conduct content gap analysis and identify opportunities based on search demand, competitor analysis, SERPs, and business priorities.
- Develop detailed SEO content briefs based on search intent, keyword opportunities, SERP analysis, and user needs.
- Work with the content team to ensure content is optimized for search visibility, relevance, accuracy, and conversions.
- Review existing content and identify opportunities for optimization, consolidation, refreshes, and expansion.
- Optimize content structure, headings, internal links, FAQs, entities, and other on-page elements.
- Monitor content performance and recommend improvements based on organic search data.
- Ensure content follows SEO and brand guidelines.
4. AEO, GEO & AI Search Optimization
- Execute initiatives to improve visibility across Featured Snippets, People Also Ask, AI Overviews, and answer engines.
- Implement AEO and GEO best practices across relevant website content and pages.
- Monitor brand visibility across AI-powered search platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and other emerging search experiences.
- Identify opportunities to improve the brand’s presence across AI-powered search results.
- Stay updated on changes in AI search, search behaviour, and evolving SEO best practices.
- Use AI tools for SEO research, content analysis, optimization, reporting, data analysis, and workflow improvement.
5. Local SEO & Google Business Profile
- Own the Local SEO strategy and optimization framework for the brand.
- Manage and optimize Google Business Profiles across multiple locations in coordination with the G-Biz agency/vendor.
- Conduct local keyword research and identify opportunities to improve local search visibility.
- Optimize location-specific website pages and ensure consistency between website and Google Business Profiles.
- Execute Local SEO activities including categories, services, products, posts, images, citations, and location-specific landing pages.
- Monitor rankings across Google Maps and local search results.
- Track G-Biz impressions, calls, website visits, leads, and other relevant performance metrics.
- Identify opportunities to improve local organic visibility and lead generation.
- Review G-Biz agency deliverables and ensure they align with the overall SEO strategy and brand requirements.
6. Off-Page SEO & Authority Building
- Own and execute the brand’s off-page SEO strategy.
- Identify relevant, high-quality backlink opportunities.
- Plan and execute link-building initiatives aligned with target pages and keywords.
- Monitor backlink profiles, referring domains, competitor backlinks, and link-building opportunities.
- Evaluate backlink quality and ensure links are relevant and aligned with SEO best practices.
- Execute citation building, digital PR, and other authority-building initiatives where relevant.
- Track the impact of off-page activities on rankings, authority, and organic visibility.
7. SEO Analytics & Performance Management
- Monitor SEO performance using Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and other relevant tools.
- Track organic traffic, keyword rankings, leads, conversions, landing-page performance, Local SEO metrics, and other business KPIs.
- Analyse performance trends and identify opportunities, gaps, risks, and areas requiring corrective action.
- Investigate traffic and ranking drops and recommend actionable solutions.
- Prepare weekly/monthly SEO performance reports and dashboards.
- Present key insights, performance updates, and action plans to internal stakeholders.
- Measure the impact of SEO initiatives against defined business targets.
- Maintain accurate SEO performance trackers and documentation.
8.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Technology, Product, Content, Marketing, Analytics, Design, and other internal teams to implement SEO initiatives.
- Provide SEO requirements and recommendations for new pages, website features, campaigns, and product/technology changes.
- Coordinate with developers to ensure timely implementation of technical SEO recommendations.
- Collaborate with the content team to ensure SEO requirements are incorporated into content planning and production.
- Work with analytics/data teams to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of SEO performance.
- Ensure SEO is integrated into the brand’s overall digital marketing and acquisition strategy.
- Follow up on dependencies and ensure SEO initiatives are implemented within agreed timelines.
9. Agency Coordination
- Coordinate with external agencies/vendors supporting content and Google Business Profile (G-Biz) activities only.
- Share clear briefs, SEO requirements, priorities, and timelines with agencies.
- Review content and G-Biz deliverables to ensure they meet SEO, quality, and brand guidelines.
- Track agency deliverables, timelines, and pending actions.
- Provide feedback and ensure required changes are implemented.
- Monitor the performance of agency-supported activities and identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain complete internal ownership of SEO strategy, technical SEO, on-page SEO, off-page SEO, Local SEO, AEO, GEO, AI SEO, reporting, and overall organic performance.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, Mass Communication, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in SEO, GA4, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, or other SEO platforms will be an advantage.
Requirements & Skills
- 2–4 years of hands-on SEO experience, preferably in an in-house/brand environment.
- Solid practical experience in Technical SEO, On-Page SEO, Off-Page SEO, Content SEO, and Local SEO.
- Experience managing SEO for a medium to large website is preferred.
- Experience with Google Business Profile / Local SEO is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of AEO, GEO, AI Search Optimization, and AI Overviews.
