Key Responsibilities
- Provide confidential, age-appropriate counselling and emotional support to students.
- Support students experiencing anxiety, academic stress, bullying, friendship difficulties, family concerns, low self-esteem and behavioural or emotional challenges.
- Identify students who may require additional psychological or specialist support and make appropriate referrals.
- Work closely with teachers to identify and respond to emerging student wellbeing concerns.
- Meet with parents and provide appropriate guidance regarding student wellbeing and development.
- Develop and conduct age-appropriate wellbeing programmes and workshops for students.
- Support initiatives related to bullying prevention, emotional regulation,
resilience, digital wellbeing and healthy relationships.
- Conduct sessions for students, parents and teachers on relevant mental-health and wellbeing topics.
- Maintain appropriate professional records and documentation while protecting student confidentiality.
- Follow the school’s safeguarding and child-protection procedures, including appropriate escalation of concerns relating to abuse, self-harm or risk to a student’s safety.
- Build and maintain a professional referral network with external psychologists, psychiatrists, developmental specialists and other relevant professionals.
- Contribute to the development of a comprehensive student wellbeing programme across the school.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling Psychology or a closely related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant skilled experience, preferably in a school or child/adolescent setting.
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and teachers.
- Strong professional ethics and understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding.
