A sonography typist works in hospitals, diagnostic centers, or imaging clinics and is responsible for:
Typing ultrasound (sonography) reports as dictated by the radiologist or sonologist.
Ensuring reports are accurate and free of spelling or formatting errors.
Maintaining patient records and test reports.
Entering patient details into the hospital or laboratory information system.
Printing, organizing, and dispatching reports to patients or doctors.
Keeping medical information confidential.
Coordinating with radiologists, sonographers, and reception staff.

Skills Required
Quick and accurate typing (typically 35–50+ words per minute).
Valuable English grammar and medical terminology knowledge.




Familiarity with MS Word and hospital management software.
Attention to detail and confidentiality.
Basic knowledge of ultrasound procedures and anatomy is an advantage.

Qualification
10+2 (Higher Secondary) or graduation (requirements vary by employer).
Typing certification or computer course is often preferred.
Experience in medical transcription or medical typing can be beneficial.
