Intro

Tesco Sourcing is the global sourcing arm of Tesco, one of the world’s leading retailers. We are responsible for sourcing Tesco’s non-food products from around the world, ensuring that every item meets our high standards for quality, safety and ethical compliance, while delivering exceptional value to our customers.

Our global headquarters are in Hong Kong (China), with regional hubs in Shanghai (China), India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Turkey. We also have team members based in the UK, Central Europe, Vietnam, Cambodia and Pakistan.

We are currently seeking a Responsible Sourcing Manager to join our team in India.

About the team The Responsible Sourcing team is a global function with colleagues based around the world. Led by the Head of Responsible Sourcing in Hong Kong, the team works closely with colleagues in the UK and across our sourcing hubs, including Commercial, Supply Chain and Technical teams.

About the role

As Responsible Sourcing Manager, you will lead our Responsible Sourcing programme across India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, managing five direct reports based across these countries.

Reporting to the Head of Responsible Sourcing, you will play a vital role in delivering the Responsible Sourcing strategy and embedding ethical standards across our supply base.

You will work collaboratively with internal sourcing teams and external suppliers to implement Responsible Sourcing programmes, identify ethical risks and develop mitigation plans that drive meaningful improvement and help protect the Tesco brand. You will also deliver Tesco’s ‘Ethical First’ approach, partnering closely with our Technical and Commercial teams.

You will be responsible for

Identifying risks and implementing solutions

- Overseeing the identification of ethical risks, resolving non-compliances, implementing improvement programmes and developing more sustainable solutions
- Coordinating the ethical rating of suppliers and factories and aligning understanding within the business
- Driving engagements with colleagues and suppliers to align understanding of improvement objectives and manage possible impact on the business
- Coordinating worker and supplier empowerment projects to support the long-term sustainability of improvement plans




- Leading communications and training for colleagues and suppliers

Upgrading the supply base

- Driving the change agenda in specific categories or hubs to upgrade the supply base by working collaboratively with stakeholders
- Acting as the ethical voice in supply base governance discussions and helping to embed Responsible Sourcing into commercial strategies
- Engaging external stakeholders to support sector-wide solutions where appropriate
- Supporting beyond-compliance programmes for a supply base we can be proud of

- Providing the business with clear and timely information on ethical trading in the supply base

- Completing tasks and routines to a high standard and supporting others to do the same

You will need

- Responsible Sourcing experience - Around five years’ experience managing ethical or Responsible Sourcing programmes, preferably across the Indian subcontinent, with strong knowledge of ethical standards, human rights due diligence, responsible recruitment, modern slavery prevention and worker welfare programmes.
- Risk assessment and problem-solving capability - Experience identifying ethical and human rights risks across supply chains and driving effective corrective actions, remediation plans and long-term sustainable solutions.
- Proven people leadership - Demonstrated success leading, coaching and developing teams, with the ability to manage a team of five professionals, build capability and foster a collaborative and inclusive culture.




- Supplier engagement and change management skills - Ability to influence suppliers and factory management to improve ethical performance, strengthen management systems and embed ethical governance into business operations.
- Strong stakeholder management - Proven ability to work effectively with commercial, technical, quality, sourcing and external partners, balancing ethical requirements with business objectives.
- Programme and project management expertise - Experience managing complex regional programmes, prioritising initiatives, monitoring progress and delivering measurable improvements across multiple suppliers and sites.
- Excellent communication and training skills - Skilled in presenting, facilitating workshops, conducting supplier training and communicating complex ethical topics clearly to different audiences.
- Data-driven decision-making - Ability to analyse audit findings, ethical performance indicators, supplier ratings and risk data to identify trends, prioritise actions and report progress to senior stakeholders.
- Values-led leadership and integrity - A strong commitment to ethical business practices, integrity, due diligence and respect for workers’ rights, with the confidence to act as the ethical voice in business decisions and supply base governance discussions.
